It was indeed - only fitted to UK Sterling models for about a year in the days when a Sterling was only available as a saloon and the Vitesse as a fastback. Matt (midnite) managed to track one down and is breaking it :

As for the black one, if i lived in the USA i'd probably snap it up!

id have that beige leather interior out of it straight away, $4000 though, how people moan about car prices over here i will never know, anyway i wish my leather was still that colour in the sterling I'm breaking, it is absolutely rank, but gonna have that electric rear seat setup in my sli even if it kills me.

Not sure about the USA Chris but fairly certain it was "all or nothing" here in the UK - if you bought a Sterling (US SLi spec, their whole range was called Sterling) then you got the electric rear leather seats.
If you bought the next one down, you just got a standard back seat.

It's mad in one way Matt, we're paying £5-6 a gallon for petrol yet in the states they're only paying $3-4 a gallon, maybe a bit less. However, their gallons are about 0.8 of a UK gallon (UK pint = 20 Fl.Oz, US pint = 16 Fl.Oz, 8 pints to a gallon) but ignore that bit for a second and petrol is about half price compared to ours. As such, their car prices seem to hold up better. Also the climate tends to be kinder to cars - look at the condition of the SLi in the ad the OP linked to! Like it just rolled off the line at Cowley!

i can't see how they price sterlings up in the states for that,and its got 210k on it bloody hell, when you can buy a similar or better spec legend for much much less, its not like the yanks really know what a rover 800 is, as so little were sold.

i often wonder if american 800s have the rover smell when you open the doors, my older 400s from the past and my dads brand new 416gti had the same smell as my silver 827sli has now, out of the 4 i have its the only one with that smell, a smell similar to when we had mk3 xr3is as kids, you could put me in ten cars blindfolded even now, and i can smell crushed velour monza trim straight away.
