Yes, manufactured in 1995 but not registered until later and wearing a mk1 bonnet. Was this one of Brads at some point ?

nice colour that is. my first 800 was an 827sli fastback in that colour, manual with grey leather, was much better car than my sterling, there were no rattles or any noises, and with the modified exhaust wasn't very slow either... regards ricky

Someone has spent a lot of time (and money!) changing the Mk2a bits for Mk2b bits - seats, window switches, wood trim, door cards, rear lights etc. That said, if it was owned by Rover at Cowley it may have been done by them - either way it's a nice car and if i had the money i'd probably snap it up.
Cheers,
Dave

Pretty sure all the mods were Brad's? Or did he just do the bonnet and headlights?

Something about this car always made me see something a bit SD1-ish about it.

Think it's the long front indicators and Mk1 bonnet - very similar at first glance to the front end of an SD1 and i suspect if they had ever made an SD1 saloon, it would have been similar in appearance to an 800 saloon.
Cheers,
Dave

I never liked it but that's me. I personally don't think the bumper looks right with the bonnet?

I wonder if a MK1 bumper would look any better?

I fitted MK2 wings and indicators to a MK1 years back though never painted the wings.

Similar look but I think it looks better?

I think that's probably how the Mk1 should have looked in the first place Chris but the "curvier" front of the Mk2 gives it a slightly futuristic look compared to the Mk1 as we all know it - could be why Rover chose a more conventional style at the time for the Mk1?

Or maybe it was down to good ol' fashioned penny-pinching again!

Probably more to do with the corporate styling look of the time as maestro, montego had the same style indicator prior to the mk2 800

Could well be Steve although the Maestro was different again with a square indicator fitting into the "fluting" that ran along the length of the Maestro body. Difficult to know what was in the corporate mind of BL/ARG executives at the time of any decision   :?

Yes I owned this, in 2009-2010. I bought it off Brad, who had fitted the bonnet and grille as well as the seats and door cards from the Mk2B.

From memory, the seats needed wiring in, which I did. I also fitted the "smoked" rear lights and repeater lenses. I sold it in 2010 to Benny, who had it for a little while. Good to see it still exists.

Here are some photos I took when I first got it in September 2009:

Nice to see an 800 without a passenger airbag! Completely ruined the lines of the dash when they fitted them :( and as for that horrible black centre pad/steering wheel in an otherwise colour coded dash!

I've already returned my coupé steering wheel/column cowl to Stone Beige and removed the airbag, passenger side airbag to exit stage left sometime soon and will be replaced with a custom shelf, instruments and maybe a cup holder............ :D

Such a shame BAe sold out to BMW, we could have had bigger, better 800s (835 with AWD anybody?) had they not spoiled the tie-in with Honda and kept Rover alive and British!
Cheers,
Dave

Dave,
How have you overcome the SRS light if you've removed the bag?
