Definitely the same car and seems to have changed hands again possibly?

He makes it sound like someone bought it from Dan then part chopped it on a P5.

Reading his last post I don't see how it's changed hands twice.

He says the guy lives Surrey way wouldn't pick it up till the 18th.

Re the ebay seller who is not a trader:
Listed cars 6 times in the last 3 months plus sold a P5 and his Bentley in that time and purchased three other cars, seems to be a really good chap selling his relative's cars as well. Never displays a number plate and always has private listings. Absolutely not a trader, just has an expensive hobby!
Some big lads did it.

Well, I'm gobsmacked!!!!

The seller IS the chap who I sold it to, and he came down and collected the car last Monday 18th, as promised. I collected him from the train station, about 20 minute drive from me, in the Sterling, and he loved it. He told me he restores old Rover P5 coupe's, and that my Sterling was going to a customer of his, while he restored said customers P5. Maybe his customer has turned down my Sterling??

I will watch this with interest, and as a pointer, the seller paid me £575 for the car, as a private sale. I see he's put a reserve on it, it didn't make my £550 reserve when I listed it, so it will be interesting to watch.

Feel free to bid on the car guys, ask him questions etc, and if you need to know anymore about the car, just ask me, I knew that car inside out, so I'll be able to tell if the seller is telling porkies or not. So far his listing seems pretty accurate.

I understand it was done by changing the info via the ECU in re-mapping it as these engine`s were de tuned for the Rover and Honda Legend in the UK market, the previous owner but one use to be a mechanic for the Met Police and use to tune these engines up for Police use when their used the 827`s, was told it was done around 80k so some years ago, Paul
So not done since you had it Dan.

Surely you noticed an extra 65BHP? :lol:

Makes you laugh doesn't it?

It was only a week ago being sold by someone else on ebay and he's saying stuff like that. Which in itself is a bizarre thing to make up.

He's feeding you a line Chris. The previous owner to me was NOT a mechanic for the MET Police, he was ex-military. I know this, as when I bought the car from him, we sat in his living room, and drank tea that his Thai wife had made for us.

Incidentally, the current seller told me he spent 20 years in the MET police himself, during the period when the Rover 800 was the police car to have. He told me that the MK1 Vitesse's were all fitted with 3.2 litre engines, and not the standard 2.7 litre. How much truth is in that rumour??

I haved owned a 4 litre X300 Jaguar, and that kicked out 235 bhp, and my Sterling was nowhere as quick as the Jag.

Surely, if the bhp has been uprated, then it must follow that the brakes, etc, would have to be beefed up too, to cope with the extra power? The brakes on my Sterling were STANDARD................ I know, I changed the pads & discs last summer...........

I'd be tempted to report him to ebay and get the advert pulled. Tossers like that mess it up for straight sellers.

the pre cat 827 did have a higher compression ratio, used to have fun with mine when overtaking, indicate put foot down turn the wheel and about 3 seconds latter get kicked in the back as the power kicked in. the whole car would lurch as the stering had turned by then. i could get wheel spin at 60 when the box kicked down
