1991 Ex Met Police 827Sli

Post by Gludenscrude » Sat Apr 10, 2010 7:55 am

Hi,

I spotted this, this morning.

I dont know why but for some reason it doesn't seem right to me.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C148361/#

Does anyone know the car, is it the same ex police car that has done the rounds, or is it another one? was it a police car at all? all these questions :-)

prepared to have my ignorance exposed here, if it is all cosher but not familiar to me :)

Regards

Martin

It wouldn't be a 'CBspec' radio for starters, the radio units the Emergency Services use are very professional units and they fit them very professionally either themselves or contract out to another company, West Mids Fire Service for example use a company in Cannock to do all their fitments.

Vard66-I think you are right, it would be very unusual for a 'marked' police car to be anything other than base spec manual.

Also its got the wrong alloys and the police would NEVER stick grille on!

He's up to his old tricks still then, I see.

The seller of this car is the very same person who bought my Sterling from me in January, and then tried to sell it on saying it had had loads of mods done to it, notably the engine bhp upgrade to 235 BHP!!!!

The guy is full of cr*p, so steer clear of anything he offers, as you won't be getting what is on offer.

Incredibly low mileage for an ex police car IMO. 82k?? I had an ex S.Wales Police Jag X300 a few years back, it had been out of the force for 5 years before it came to me with excess of 200k miles.

The car looks nice, but the blurb on the advert does not belong with it. This has been someones "toy".

EDIT: Just found the ebay link for the car as he bought it:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0597737816

Read it and weep.

Can't see any aerials, can you? And bought for £350, now offering for £1995?? What a kn*bber!!!
I think I've proved a point here

Is it possible to report him to the site?

I might look into it, see if I can make them aware and get him banned.

*Edit*

I've sent them an e-mail with a link to both the EBay auction and the advert in question.

We'll see what happens.

Glad I got this out in the open, I wouldn't want some poor unsuspecting ignoramus buying that :!:

As soon as I saw the radio I thought there was something wrong, I could just about think that someone may have changed the wheels and put the grille on, but that radio was completely wrong, even Carol took one look and said it was a CB :)

I hope he gets his come uppance

Oh My, that is the biggest pile of tosh I have seen done to a car. The CB Fitting is crap, shite aeriels, highly illeagal blue light.

My mate used to own an ex police Rapid Armed responce Sierra. Was an interesting car

Thanks, Dan.

If/when they send me a reply to the e-mail I've sent to them, I'll give them links to those auctions too.

Huh.

Apparently my E-Bay account is suspended.

As I understand it, they used autos but trained the drivers to change manually, revving to the red line, in a 'pursuit' scenario. In the heat of the chase the driver would, on occassion, miss top and slam through into 'R' with the embarrasing noise and mess on the tarmac. Manuals were then considered a safer option.

Oddly I met him (Paul) today after buying another white fastback from him.

I didn't see this car though we spoke briefly about it over the phone the other night. Can't add anymore than that.

I have to say aside whatever may or may not be going off with this car that he's a really nice bloke.

Chris,

Of course he's going to be "a really nice bloke", he's after peoples money!

I've met him when he came to collect my Sterling, and I had the same opinion as you Chris, but within a week, the Sterling was back on eBay and C&C, with a whole host of lies being advertised about the car.

This whole thing is very close to "obtaining money by deception", and it makes my blood boil knowing that there are "nice" people like Mr. Maley taking money off poor Mr. innocent punter, by lying their backsides off.

Rant over.

P.S The listings links I put up above are what Paul has purchased for this car, check his feedback, and you'll see for yourself. The man is nothing but a con artist............

Chris, you say you've bought a car from him today?? Tell me more please, either here or PM if you like.

There's a thread on the car now.

What would you like to know?

Just seen it Chris.

I thought you'd bought a roadworthy car from him, and not a parts car, that's all.

I reckon your car has been raped of good servicable parts, and placed on the "police" car, like the mirror covers.

Like I said above, he's going to be a really nice bloke when you hand him over 100 of your hard earnt pounds, nothing against you Chris, and it's your right to deal with whomever you please, but as I've also had dealings with the same person, I'm just airing my opinions, that's all.
At least you haven't been conned into buying one of his "gems" that turn out to be nothing like what they're supposed to be.........
