Instead of a toy why not have the real thing 8)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140765863664? ... 1423.l2649

Been listed three times. price has dropped to £2000. If I had the space ........ oh if I had the space:roll:

Our 827s were standered engine wise. No turbos, tuning or superchargers (unfortunately). On the face lifted ones there were Vitesse wheels and stiffer lower suspension but that was it. Still went like sewage off a garden implament though. Great fun.

Then the Omega arrived :x :x :x :(

Kate
ps got a strathclyde Police corgi saloon on the dash of my SE. How sad is that :D

Kate, can you feel a difference between Police and normal 827's????

My mate bought an Ex Police R.A.R. Sierra. That was 'breathed on' quite nicely

Can't really say Phil as all my private 800s have either been 2.0ltr or KV6s. The only 827s I've driven are police ones. If I had to make a guess I'd say it would be a cross between the ride of a 2.0ltr Vitesse Turbo (which I have driven) with the power of an 827.

Loaded to the gunnels with fire extinguishers, cones, signs, shovels.stick lights, tow ropes and Macdonalds wrappers they tended to sit low at the back. When you floored it to go from a down slip onto a Motorway after some miscreant the nose seemed to come up,there would be a momentary pause and then warp drive. Fantastic.
I never tired of that experience. Nothing else but an 800 delievrs that sort of rush esp with the nee narrs on.

Kate :D

Whilst clearing out a cupboard last weekend, we stumbled across some old photo albums. In one of them was this picture of a convoy through Swindon when STFC won something (somewhere, somewhen, wasn't that bothered about the footy info tbh :P ). Anyway, the police escort was this:

(Sorry for the poor quality - was a photo of a photo as the scanner is broke)

DVLA says the date of liability was 28/03/1995, so was around for just 4 years..?

Not strictly 800 related but also took the SD1 to the Oxford Centenary earlier this year too, would you believe it, on the way there I came across an overturned vehicle. So the SD1 was put into action once more, luckily i had the foresight to bring my personal radio with me so was able to summon help directly. I helped the driver and passenger out the vehicle. They got a shock seeing the SD1 and me wearing my tunic and period uniform lol funnily enough, Surrey police didn't think it weird that a Met PC in period uniform driving a 1983 car was on their patch dealing with an RTC. They just wanted their pic taken with it lol ended up being a good day and the car even got the mayor of Oxford's approval. enjoy!

Am I missing something, I thought all ex emergency vehicles had to be debadged/lights covered whilst on public highways ?

I am a serving police officer with the Met, Both the 827 and SD1 belong to the Metropolitan Police and are still part of the historic fleet. They both have fleet numbers and log books just like any other operational police vehicle, they can only be driven by police officers with the appropriate driving qualifications. Therefore theres no requirement of me to cover lights or debadge the vehicles. I'm not impersonating a police officer by driving them on the public road because I am a police officer lol hence the above photos.

Aaah, just going off the PVEC site, is it different for a private individual then buying an ex cop car registered in his/her own name, only asking as I looked into buying an ex Met red Diplo car some time ago for shows and event sand the restrictions and warnings regarding 'real' cops taking a dim view, terrorism acivity regarding impersonation etc put me right off ...........
