Original Rover Manuals and Videos

Post by whitelion58 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 2:55 pm

Hello
VTB has kindly lent me his stock of original Rover technical VHS tapes. These were intended for internal training and as such are a gold mine of detail that is hard to find anywhere else.

I have transcribed them to DVD. Some of the tapes are in poor shape and the copies can be glitchy, and some don't start from the the beginning of the tape - but we have done the best we can with such vintage material!

They have been transcoded into online format and I have uploaded them to a public Google Drive that I have created specifically to hold forum archive material.

I will be adding a few more next week when the remaining tapes have been processed.

You can view the videos directly, or download them to your machine too if you wish. I keep all these, and the technical manuals, on a USB drive on my key chain, so they are always available.

Anyway the link for the videos is here:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing

I have also created a second folder to contain all the original Rover printed workshop manuals and handbooks. These used to be available as "The Super CD", but the website they were hosted on has finally shut down. The new archive is here:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing

If anyone has other material - VHS, DVD, pdf, paper etc... - that they can loan to me I will happily process it and make it available to all via these links.
Enjoy.

*Note -

Some of the large manuals - like the important Mk1/Mk2 manuals will not display directly because they are too large. If you see the error screen below, just select the Download arrow at bottom right and a copy will be delivered to your download folder. Simples.

If there are ever any access probs, just give me a nudge.

I'll dig out and list the ones on VHS that I have, as well as the hard copy manuals.

I doubt that I have any that are not in Brad's collection, but you never know!.

Thanks for doing this, Tim.

I have horded these tapes far too long and it's very generous of you to spend your time doing what you have done.

I may have some more...

Perhaps this should be made a sticky for future reference?

I watched a couple of the videos last night, very informative! I thought Fastcheck was an "all-in-one" system. I never realised that there were seperate Fastchecks for different items. They look proper handy!

Tim/Brad, wound you mind if I used these on stand at the NEC show?

I'm getting several computers for this and the PC format is just the job!

Thanks. :)

Does anyone have similar manuals for the Rover 25?

Had a look on MG Rover.org forum but only electrical diagrams on there.

I have a hard copy of the Thatcham repair manual if you want to add it to the rest of the info. Charles

Charles - how many pages is that manual? Anyway, if you are prepared to post it to me I will scan it and return the original to you.
PM me if you want to give it a try.
Cheers

Just added "Service News Issue 7" to the video section (thanks again VTB) 22 minutes of service fixes for common probs on 800 and Montego. The "fixes" mostly appear like amateur bodges rather than main dealer re-engineering to me! Worth a watch for sure.
Does include a stern warning never to use any kind of rad sealer in an 827 - which is common knowledge, but never seen it "officialised" from Rover before.
Enjoy.
