And they're only the ones you know about.

I also have a thing for LG TVs amongst other stuff.

For obvious reasons they're not all in the same room so a group shot is not really viable but here's a saddo shot of the boxes in the loft.

The whole concept of the tools is for the batteries to work in any of the tools as you say.

I find it suits me better to have at least 2 batteries in reserve for when the others go flat and I use several drills at a time when doing bigger jobs. Saves swapping bits all the time. Swapping batteries becomes equally tedious after a while too. So I tend to have enough to use in the tools to just get on with the job.

The bit about the batteries makes sense - i recently picked up (via Freegle so it was my favourite price - FREE!!!!!) a drill, jigsaw and torch combo set that has one charger and errr............just one battery. You can see the idea, it makes it cheaper but highly inconvenient when you need to drill a hole in the dark!

The battery won't take a charge but looks similar to an old B&D design, when i get some time i'll go through it and find some new rechargeable cells on fleabay and fix it that way.

That brings me neatly to the point - how do you get on with replacement batteries? Are they a sensible price or is it like most electric cars are now, £5k for the car and £35k for the battery?
Cheers,
Dave

I have a set of Makita brushless tools. Drill, 1/4 impact driver and 4.5" angle grinder.

I have 4 batteries for them which works out perfectly, one in each tool and one on the charger at all times.

The batteries used to be silly money but are now more sensible with 3Ah ones at £40 each, 4Ah £60 and 5Ah £80.

You have to be careful though as depending on the tool you use them in you must use the correct Ah battery.

Low current draw like torches and small tools are fine on the 5Ah battery. Use the big grinder or circular saw and you'll kill the 5Ah battery in no time at all.

Current vs Capacity being inverse for LiON batteries.

Trailer looks good Chris, it is also anonymous from the outside so much less likely to get "fiddled with" than a van. What does your insurance company say about value of trailer and contents? Adrian Flux don't cover a trailer at all, doesn't bother me and the £80 eBay trailer I have :-D

Err, WOW. That is a massive workshop trailer.

What will you be using it for? And will you be doing much work with an LG TV in it??!!

If I were using them daily for work I'd probably have looked at more expensive kit like yours. I use them a fair bit but not like a tradesman would.

The newer batteries tend to last longer as well so even with heavy use I find the 4Ah ones I have last OK. Most of the heavier use tools I have recommend using the 4Ah.

TBH I've never looked at insurance, maybe I should. I ought to put a lock on it too maybe?

My current list includes:
4 Drills
2 Angle Drills
1 1/2" Impact Driver
1 1/4 Impact Driver
1 Circular Saw
1 Jigsaw
1 Angle Grinder
1 Reciprocating Saw
1 Sealant Gun
1 Light

The trailer's not that big. :) 10X6X6 in old money.

The pic of the tools is in my garage. :) Not even I'm crazy enough to put a TV in the trailer.........................yet.

Still big enough for at least one TV Chris? You could put a false wall/door down one side that when opened would cover the workbench with the TV in the middle and a few optics either side, another false door/wall other side of the trailer that would cover below the work bench and house a cool box/12v fridge for beer, bacon, eggs etc and a fold down camping stove/sink and adapt these ideas for more tool and "home comfort" storage to creat a true multi-purpose trailer. :D

Dave

You aren't the first to suggest that. :D

I think a few years ago I would have no question. With having 'er indoors' to consider I know it's not even worth suggesting.

It would be almost a caravan crossed with a mobile workshop, i can understand her not wanting to camp in a tent (my ex-wife didn't like tents either!) but under a solid roof should be more acceptable? :?

It's not tents she dislikes, it's all the work involved in going and setting up. Which TBH is mostly my fault as I don't exactly travel light.

Not sure sleeping in a mobile workshop would be better as I think it would tempt me into doing jobs in our living space.

Honestly in the future I think a caravan is on the cards. We went to look at some the other week but not decided yet.

Hmmm, a caravan eh? I can picture it now - back half of a motorhome with an A-frame and ball hitch on the front and a similar motorhome to tow it!

The concept of the 800 Fastback and matching trailer will live on! :D

We did start looking at motorhomes/campers, I personally have a soft spot for American day vans but she's not keen on them.

Being honest I think we'd find them limiting anyway as it means keep moving your home every time you want to go out. While I'm not a big caravan lover I think it will be the way forward for us. Though it may bring into question the future of the 800 trailer.

I always planned to paint the trailer another colour at some point. With the weather being good the last few days I decided now was the time.

Looks a bit bland but it's nicely protected for a while, the previous varnish was suffering after only a few months of being on. See how long this lasts.

Pic from before for comparison. Oddly I've just noticed from looking at old pics that it was exactly a year to the date of building the box for the trailer that I painted it. 25th of August in each case as I actually painted it Friday but only re-fitted everything today. Not that interesting but made me chuckle.
