Scottish winter

I went to visit my daughter for a couple of days. She stays about 15 miles north of Fort William on the banks of the Caledonian Canal. Sadly the west coast has missed most of the snow but never the less the scenery was pretty spectacular driving north from Glasgow along the banks of Loch Lomond and through Glen Coe. Temperatures managed to go as low as -11 last night although I believe it has to get colder as the week goes on.

John those shots are fantastic, Rannoch moor is somewhere I would love to go definately heaven on earth

It was the east coast that got hit hard, looking at some of the webcams from the traffic scotland website there have been some impressive falls of snow.


How did the Rangie handle herself??

The RR was fantastic in the snow, couldn't put a foot wrong and I'm very impressed. Don't get me wrong if you try playing silly beggers with it you could easily have almost 3 tonnes of metal out of control but treating it with a bit of respect and it is a truly awesome bit of kit

Thanks for posting these pictures, I really enjoyed seeing what this part of Scotland looks like at this time of year. In July 2008, I took my son up to Fort William for an Outwardbound course. Through Glasgow, over the Irvine Bridge to Dumbarton, up the A82, Glen Coe etc. My son said the A82 is one of the main routes but it is a very poor road where it passes Loch Lomond. I was surprised how sparsley populated this area is, I was thinking at the time how it would be in the winter. Now I know! I wont be moving there!

That is so beautiful! I've never been north of Norwich and that is a long time ago. I would really love to go back to England, and make a trip to Scotland aswell!

my dad used to live in dunoon so used to travel up there a few times a year used to leave croydon near midnight and drive up overnight would get to glasgow at about 6 in the morning then drive over the erskine bridge and around the loch's to dunoon, would be very tired when we got to glasgow but would wake up on the drive around the loch's some awsome roads up there, used to have a modified v8 sd1 rover. the scenery was nice but the drive was the icing on the cake regards ricky

Total chaos here today, I spent 3 hours travelling 3 miles trying to get my wife into her work. The Range Rover was passing cars that were stuck on hills but the gridlock was so bad we about turned as everywhere was blocked.

I heard on the news there are still thousands of motorists stranded on the Scottish motorways and roads trying to get home, some have been there for 15 hours and the police are hoping to get things moving in the next hour or two

Yesterday I decided to take SWMBO into her work. The gridlock was so bad that I did 3 miles in 3 hours and we ended up back at the house.

The Range Rover was awesome in the snow, I was passing cars that were stuck on hills no problem, I'm impressed :thumb:

Today I took SWMBO to work today and took some pictures. Temperatures were as low as -11 at mid-day
