Last of the Bogoff Coupe's

I am now officially down to one Rover 800, and that is my 93 plate 827i Fastback, which will shortly be getting new sills and other improvements before a new MOT.
Below is the final 800 Coupe' from the "Bog-Off" twins.
Since securing these cars, I had plenty of interest from the start, some turned out to be a waste of time and money, others went for "on the road" cars with known faults.

Well this car a rare "Factory Black Manual 2.7 Coupe'" has been sent away for evaluation to some one who has the time and space to pull her apart and see what she really needs, as storage was taking it's toll and I didn't think it would survive another winter in the barn.

Below are the results.
Headlining (small nick and very greasy)
Grab handles (very baggy and greasy)
Rear seats (Leather grease stained and colour faded )
Front seats (leather could be a lot better – again, colourpatchy) but now
working again
Seat belts won’t respond to a clean – very grubby and stiff webbing especially
rears
Carpet – greasy and water stained
Clutch pedal rubber missing
Bonnet release catch broken
Front wings rotten
Outer sills completely rotted out
Wheels need refurb
Tyres old and shot, rears keep deflating
Brakes failed at front – new discs, pads etc
Headlights need replacing – silver reflectors disintegrated
Scuttle panel needs painting but is pretty sound
Wiper arms, need painting and blades replacing
Bulkhead panel above servo rotted – almost disintegrated to nothing!
Power steering leak (loses a pint in 24 hours)
Service needed – oil, filter, air filter, fuel filter, brake fluid etc
Battery rubbish and too small
Grille broken and rusted – held on with cable ties as all fixings broken
Exhaust blow – not sure where from yet
Engine under tray damaged and held on with one bolt
Fog lamps not working
Boot gets wet in rain.
Body needs complete repaint due to lots of small dents and scratches too deep
to polish out.
Dashboard lifted and repaired with rivets – needs new dash,ideally
All woodwork milky and weathered.


Good points

No rust in roof and minimal in rear arches
Windows work well
Sunroof smooth
No tappet rattle
No smoke from exhaust
Easy to start
Suspension feels good
New radiator fitted
New Cam belt, Aux Belt's etc
New Water Pump
Engine fully serviced at time of belt change. (a few months after Brad took delivery of it's Auto Sister)

Complete and not obviously bodged in the past – a virgin car in many ways
It’s black :D
Should be easy to paint and find better seats due to simple colour's.

I have decided to "Bite the Bullet" to ensure this car's survival, and "hopefully" continued presence within the 800 community.

I have given the car away to the the person assessing it, as I do not have the time, nor could risk waiting any longer for some one to save her.

It is hoped that she will return to the road in due course.

I am sorry that you, too, have had your fair share of time wasters. As have I.

I hope this black manual coupe is now in good hands. That's quite a list of issues that need sorting out. In fact, a very long list!

Good luck with the old gold fastback. I remember driving that car to you in Huddersfield many moons ago...

Luckily I had a no. of new and good used parts for the car that will no doubt aid it's recovery.
New wing and boot lid
Exhaust sections.
Mint carpet set.
Mint solid chrome grill
Ariel

and more.
I understand some work has already begun, so we may yet see her return to the road sometime next year depending on time and availability of parts/labor.
