Re: Shaun's Vitesse
Yes that will be interesting. My opinion has always been that the front end is the only thing about the R17 design that isn't perfect. I also see that the lower part is blue and not black, will you keep it blue? I think the front end looks lower and better with the colour coded lower bumper.

Re: Shaun's Vitesse
Yes the front end has always looked a bit awkward to me, prefer the sharper line of the mk1 small bumper.
If it looks strange I can just put the plinth back on and the original rubber lip and no one will know

Yes staying blue, I'm hoping it will blend in better with the side skirts

Re: Shaun's Vitesse
Time for a once a year update
If anyone can remember a long time ago I was modifying my front bumper. I did get it finished and coat of primer applied.
And with number plate
Test fit on car
Had to see what it looked like with the lights back in
Also finished the sills with a coat of stone chip
More recently I have been stripping the front of the car, wings, steering and suspension parts for refurbishing or replacement so hopefully will update this thread sometime in the next millennium

Re: Shaun's Vitesse
Just read this from the start, nice work, these things take time but its surprising how much progress you make if you keep going out there when you get the chance, love the colour and nice work on the front bumper.

Re: Shaun's Vitesse
I ran out of steam last year, never seemed time to fit it in, moving again now though. This is last weeks contribution.CHR15E wrote:At least it's progress.
Front wings both crusty round the lip but I had a good passenger one I got from Chris years ago.
What I thought was a fairly solid drivers wing
Cut out the rot and pitting and made some replacement sections
My welding isn't the neatest but a skim of filler and primer sorted it.
I now have both wings in primer and plenty of stone chip on the inside.
Hopefully get a bit done this weekend on the suspension, already stripped the drivers side but due to limited space in my garage I have to do one side at a time.

Nice effort.
That the wing you had off me after the deer incident?
At least parts of my cars live on if not in one piece.

It is the very same wing so in actual fact I had both wings from you.CHR15E wrote:Nice effort.

I thought it just needed a quick rub down but the wire brush on the angle grinder thought different

Re: Shaun's Vitesse
Good work, any chance of a picture of the car with the wing removed, particularly the inner wing/A post area, I believe on the racing 220 Coupe's a panel was welded between the lower A pillar and upper chassis to add stiffness to the shell, I am wondering if it would work on the 800 shell, dont worry if it means pushing the car out specially, thanks

Done a good job of saving it though.
Often the case unfortunately.Slamm wrote: It is the very same wing so in actual fact I had both wings from you.

I will be down the garage over the weekend so will take some pics. Need to tidy up the inner wing and stick some wax in.
