Windshield strip MK1 / MK2

Hello people!

I have a question about the strip at the top of the windshield between the roof and window.
My Mk1a Vitesse needs a new strip because the old one has turned dull/glazed (the chrome bit) and my father has an Almost new looking Mk2 strip.

Does this Mk2 strip fits on a Mk1a ?

I hope you guy's can help me (and say it fits ).

I will leave the old strip on the car!! Do you know anyone who owns a MK1 a strip?
I am building a pile of spare parts for my car because i want to keep my Vitesse for at least 60 years.

WOW!!

That is quite a collection you got there

I understand if you do not want to part with it. Maybe someday you have some items like the strip we discussed or the one at the bottom at the windshield
(my bottom strip is like new but my dad's MK2 827 has some small corrosion) that you may want to let go. I will pay of course

Try this guy on ebay Marc. I have been talking to him about the chrome trim and I believe it is for the MK1, look at the 3rd and 4th photo's.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention!!

I have looked at the pics and he has a lot indeed but it looks like he has the smaller finish strips for the rear quarter windows (and more) in stead of the long windshield strip. I think i am going to send him an e-mail to see what is in his stock exactly.

I hope this guy can store them until i come to the UK this year ore next year.

Clearly you are an enthusiast and believe me when i say that i know how much time and effort goes in the pursuit of spares. As i said i totally understand when you say ''not be letting go of anything'' .

I will not remove the strip because the same reasons that you have mentioned. My mechanic also said it would be best to let it be. It is an older car and some patina gives it more charm.

I hope i can meet you at a show / meeting one day .

Wow that is impressive!! You have a MK1c Sterling in Caribbean Blue?! Soonds like a looker as well!!

Where can i find pics of all your cars? I did see some of that red Vitesse but the others i would like to have images in my collection .

What a collection and thank you for taking the time to upload images. They go in my pic collection

Vandalism is something very frustrating and barbaric, my Vitesse's spoiler was cracked by scum and i had to wait for 2-3 month's before i got the (brand)new one from UK. (The seller was a bit hesitant about the shipping to the continent). However now is is like new .

That MK1c looks great and i hope to to see a MK2 Vitesse's in person sometime.

That is not nice to reed and i hope that that vandalism does not happen again. And as you have said, you have enough parts to fix them up.
