That looks lovely i understand why you couldn't resist.
It couldn't be in better hands.
I do think the Mk1 has some elegant lines.

Rubber Mats, not sure if they're Mk1 but they are definitely for the 800 series as they're too big to fit owt else!

Are these what you're after Kate? They could do with a clean but are in generally very good (almost unmarked) condition. In fact, if they were cleaned up the chances are they are unmarked as it looks like they've been barely used if at all. Having seen what you've done with the arches though, if anyone can get them black and shiny, i'm sure you can!


PS the drivers mat has been used underneath a carpet mat in my coupe, the carpet mat is falling apart hence the beige "dust" in the heel area but there is no obvious wear on it.

Seems although the mats have individual part numbers, they were sold as pairs under a "pair part number" :

That lists the Mk1 accessories although it shows the mats as NLA. However, Allbrit.de do list them with prices!

Obviously in Euros and then there's the carriage from Germany...............assuming they have them!

The original accessories list makes interesting reading - i didn't know you could get a fridge for your 800 for example!

The first photo of your mats will fit either the earlier or later version with boot release on floor as it has the section to be cut away

That's what i was thinking. Since originally posting that i've done a bit more research and found some more information - including a possible source of brand spanking new ones!

Found this old picture of the dealership the car would have come from. I'd have thought an inspection pit would have been easier for servicing :lol:

Very pleased this car (one of my old ones) remains with such a caring home. Love the 'sterling' work you've done on it so far.

Can't wait to get this shown alongside my immaculate 820SE...

Whilst doing a bit of theraputic cleaning last weekend I looked in the boot area and found a couple more early features.

The holding mechanism for the spare wheel is a little bit cruder than the later narled plastic device

Upon removing the jack set, its a little odd as the cellophane is unbroken, the jack unused but the tools are missing. I wonder if Rover forgot to put them in.
Anyone got a set? (Ha worth asking though)

Looking good Kate and I don't get tired of looking at your photo's neither.

In respect of the unused jack with tools missing, I would suspect that the original has been used or lost and replaced with the item that you have as it was only the cars with alloy wheels that didn't have the bit and pieces included as these were for removal of wheel trims or could have been purchased as a replacement from the dealer minus tools as a cheaper option?

I've spent most of the day looking at those pics too! :wink: :D

I could well be wrong but i think the only tool missing from there is the "L" shaped tool for removing the wheel trims. I don't think they ever actually supplied the extra tools as standard that the foam thing is designed to take.
This is EMP7157 which is superceded by 11H1051 and is common to the Mini and the Metro as well or for the grand price of £3.60 you could have a new one from Rimmers.

Alternatively i think i may have one around somewhere, i'll have a look.
