Cheers chaps, yes got lucky with the weather.
Rev limit is set at 7250rpm but I am holding it at around 7000 maximum in 4th at the end of the straight which is 110mph and easing off just past the start finish line, that is plenty lap after lap.
So lucky that oil was not on a fast section, dont know who the culprit was but at least four cars span onto the grass.
thanks again, roll on April/May for next visit

Completely agree and nice to see an 800 that goes as well as she looks.

I do like the de-chromed look with the black and BRG

Photoshop the Pugrot and those other two cars out of it and you'd have an awesome picture in its own right but also a fantastic "Brochure shot". Haven't watched your vids yet as t'internet is acting up (again!) thanks to the ground getting a good soaking recently.

Have to say the dechromed look on the rubbing strips and bumpers looks exceptionally good. I remember Ford did a similar idea in the 70s - the GT/S got black trim and the GXL/Ghia got chrome trim and it looked good then. You've taken a similar concept and improved it on the 800, well done! :D

The MK 1 Vitesse has all blacked out rubbing strips and bumpers. It may be that BRG, Stone Grey and similar colours make it work so well but it does give the car a more aggressive appearance, plus the lowering springs on that BRG car help.

I hadn't noticed before Steve! Then again i've not seen many Mk1 Vitesses and would probably have thought it was an individual mod if i had noticed it.

Your comments are very appreciated thanks.
The dechromed rubbing strips is actually really simple, I used insulating tape to see how it would look, it fitted perfectly and lasted years before peeling. I got the idea from I hate to say it, BMW E39 M5.
The first video I have replaced, I have some film taken of the car in the pits and a brief clip caught me sliding through Graham Hill bend, I hadnt realized from inside the car the rear of the car was moving around so much.
cheers again

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best and why not rob BMWs for ideas? After all, they started it!!!

Exactly Dave.
I have been a bit slow with the updates but here goes. The rear suspension is virtually standard other than cut down Spax road springs and as at the last trip to Brands Hatch the front grip and steering felt very good it was the back of the car that was lacking grip.
The front suspension is fitted with Black Powerflex bushes throughout, Leda uprated adjustable shock absorbers, 1600lb springs (probably over double the standard rate) increased camber due to lowering and sticky Dunlop race tyres.

Image

Gaz have built me a pair of rear shock aborbers, they are one offs, based on the original shock but with a shorter body as the car runs a lot lower than standard, adjustable rebound with the adjuster at the top of the shock so it can be adjusted from inside the car and the body is threaded so I can convert to coilovers in the future and adjust spring rates.

Image

This is the standard shock compared to the new Gaz shock

and the top adjuster

Image

Initially I will fit just the shock with the Spax spring and see how well or not it works, then the plan is to convert fully to coilover and fine tune the spring rates and ride height.
I have posted a request for rear top mounts on here so they can be modified into a spring seat and top mount.

The rear ARB links will be replaced with Rose joint links to tighten the rear Sport 21mm bar up a little and the roll bar brackets and bushes will be replaced to.

Other jobs on the go are adding a footplate to the drivers footwell, adding crutch belts to the 4 point harnesses, cutting and moving the seat brackets, skimming the front brake discs, looking to see if the steering rack can be solid fixed to the subframe along with a few other tidying up jobs
I will try to make some progress this weekend and update in the week, thanks for looking

Here http://www.superflex.co.uk/products.php?cat=395 I fitted them today but because the new bracket is slightly wider than the original they foul the bend of the ARB slightly, I might need to make a small modification, I will get a picture tomorrow. so dont go ordering them yet
