I really think Rover had it right with the design!

Let's be honest here, they had it right with the SD1. It has taken Audi and BMW over 40 years to catch up with the A7 and maybe the 5GT series.

Some interesting cars there as well, not to mention an immaculate Vitesse.

Hmmmm, add disc brakes all round, independent rear suspension and saloon/estate options to the range and i'd definitely agree with you on the SD1 - definitely a car ahead of its time!
Take it back to when the SD1 was launched though and those things weren't even that desirable to the market in general, it's only the wider availability of them that made them more affordable and accepted/desired.

It was a great meet and it looks timeless i think. It does not look modern like the bugeyed monsters clogging up the road now but it doesn't look ancient as well. It still is chique without being to stately and expensive without being brash. Well done Rover!

I attended to some things on my 827 Vitesse. I noticed there was a rusty line that i sanded, degreased and covered by Hammerite:


After i heard that the subframe of my father's 827 Si was a but rusty i took the time to clean mine and coated it with primers and a coat of paint:





Looking nice again!:)

Then a nice wash:


This Saturday i had a nice drive across The Netherlands and it was with great ease. Love this motor car!
Back home i needed to take some snaps in the evening sun:

Great work Marc but that pipe you sanded and painted - you might want to invest in some 15mm copper pipe and some "Yorkshire" fittings, M6 coupling nuts, short M6 bolts and rubber-lined 15mm "P" clips.

I know this because mine went, despite similar preventive maintenance. Started leaking on the weld to the brackets so was near impossible to repair. Using a bending spring, the basic shape was achieved on the copper pipe, a straight (joiner) Yorkshire fitting soldered on each end to create the flanges for the hose to grip, degreased, sprayed black and the M6 coupling nuts screwed onto the stud on the subframe. Enlarge the mounting hole in the P clip to take the M6 bolt and fit the pipe to the subframe usinf the P clips and bolts. Connect the hoses and job done.
