I took my Rover 827 Vitesse to Japan Classic Sunday! To be sure i contacted the organisation if i was allowed on the event. Because of the joint venture between Rover and Honda it was allowed! :)
Met up with friends who drove in their Mazda MX5:

Superb Marc - i watched your video as well!

Something that amazed me, out of all the rare and some of them, very rare cars there, not one single C210 or C110 Skyline! Spotted the R32/33/34 models (tricky at times to tell the difference on those) and all the Toyota Crowns from the very old to the very new plus a few other rare cars.

Yours seemed to be the only 827 there? Saw the Quintet aka Rover 400 in Australia or Rover Quintet in the UK.
Cheers,
Dave

Nice pics there Marc!
It’s interesting that many of those cars were considered not being anything special back in the days, but now they really stand out as classics! My favourite has got to be the CRX!

Slightly suprised no showing (I looked in the background as well) of the Datsun 240/260/280Z models. Surely, we all love one of them?

There is what looks to be a USA spec 280Z (we only ever got the 280ZX here in the UK) or possibly a 260Z (my eyesight got the better of me when i watched and my memory doesn't help) at one point in the video :

Worth a watch when you have a spare 10 minutes, very enjoyable seeing all those cars!

Dave

Check the video at 3:15, RA21 Celica identical to one i used to own followed in by a Targa top 300ZX (early one), 4:55 a later 300ZXTT Targa, also somewhere between those a green 260Z parked, 6:20 parked 300ZX Targa (possibly the one that came in @ 3:15 ish), 6;50 ish, Honda NSX and i'm sure i've missed a couple of others.

Oh yeah, somewhere in the video, there's a nice 89 827 Vitesse too! :P :D
Cheers,
Dave

Oh the Japan meet caused quite a stir here. Haha.

Yes I was the only Rover there. People were surprised and impressed by the Vitesse. :)

And it is indeed special to see what time has done to some cars now. Every day motors from back in the day are now more rare than a Ferrari.

Check it out! Cool video by another car lover. My Vitesse at 1:00:48:

Thank you very much for the pictures and the video.

Clearly, I dont really like Japonese cars.
There are many designs that I like (240 Z, CRX, 300 ZX, MX5...), but in general the interior disappoints me. Concerning the engines I prefer a 3.5l V8 which produces 200 hp than a 2l 4 cylinders which also produces 200 hp, a specialty of Japanese engines, but that is probably due to age !!! But I like very much my Honda V6 90° 2.7l 177 hp in my Rover.

Sorry for my late response. Well i must say i like the honest non pretentious feeling i get from Japanese cars. Now buying one for a hobby i would prefer a English or American everytime. But i must say i really appreciate a Nissan 300 ZX from the 80's. Or a big Toyota crown V12. Lovely cars in my opinion.
O i could not agree more. I dont really care for horsepower ratings. Talking about horsepower is for children hehe. I am more interested in the character and sound of the engine. Most ''efficient'' engines are very impressive in the brochures but are like a rolled up sock in the pants wen driving it.

Excellent pics Marc! Had to take a second look at the Auto-Union though, i thought it was a Sunbeam Alpine at first glance! ;) :D

A very early T-Bird, yes - i believe the Sunbeam Alpine was styled by someone influenced by the early T-Birds, i read something somewhere once about that!

A 1957 Thunderbird ^^^^^ for those too young to remember! :P
