When the car was new, it probably was all the same colour Marc but because it's been exposed to 25+ years of sunlight from different directions, it will all have aged and discoloured differently. Now you've done the steering wheel, it shows the differences on the rest.

I'm planning on refreshing my steering wheel some time in the near future but i also will need to do the seats. They are newer than the car though as i wanted heated seats and also the blue piping rather than charcoal or seat colour piping.
When i do the seats, i will do the piping in the same colour dark blue as i used on the door card inset panels and will probably do the door cards as well.
The thing putting me off is a small job becomes a big job! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Here's a few pics of it so far, these were taken during the original refit :

As you can see, i also added extra soundproofing, made a huge difference! At the time and because of artificial light, i hadn't noticed the colour difference between the steering wheel and seats - it's not so much of a difference now though!
I might just give it all a good clean and see what's what.

Meanwhile in the nearer future, i have to figure out how to set up the rear wheel alignment so it's at the correct included angle and parallel to the front.......
Cheers,
Dave

An update on my father's 827 Si. For a while we noticed that when you wanted to start the engine, the engine would not turn over. There was just the clinking noise. I contacted a Rover specialist and he confirmed our suspicion that the starter motor was at fault. Ordered a rebuild one from them. It was surprisingly easy to change it out. 1 hour of work:

While on the lift, i took the chance to remove the rust from the automatic gearbox oil cooling lines and spray them with a rust preventive primer:

Also repainted the steering wheel of my dad's 827. I did it before but it came out to yellow. Now it looks quite sharp i think:
Image
Woke up very early this morning so i gave the old girl a proper wash:

Then a hoover, cleaned the carpet and gave the body a coat of spray wax. When my dad's gets the 827 Si back he has a car that is a little bit fresher than before :):

Great fun changing the starter on an 827 isn't it Marc? Go in through the wheel arch! :?

More excellent work and great job on the steering wheel, definitely an incentive to do mine if i keep it! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Yes I went in through the wheel arch. I must say, the 827 V6 is a clever piece of design. Such a big car with a big engine and change the starter in one hour by a novice mechanic. ;) Hardest was to manoeuvre the starter motor through the wires haha.

During the extreme cold here i took a snap of my father's Rover 827 Si when it was outside. It is now safe and locked in my father's garage again. ;)

It had been a while. My father's Rover 827 needed its MOT but before that some issues had to be attended to.
Image
The fuel lines on the tank were rusty and leaking. New ones were made by a mate of ours:

There was a little hole in the subframe that was welded and coated. After this the MOT was achieved. :)
Then it was time for maintenance. Oil service and filter and a new timing belt, tentioner and water pump.

All proper now! :)
