christmas technical guess what it is picture

Post by midnite » Thu Dec 24, 2015 2:42 pm

right then guys, i got this item from outside the eu, its super rare, so guess what it is, and what car its off, its not as simple as your thinking it is.

1st prize is a jar containing the mould i cleaned off the roof lining and door panels from my sterling breaker.

2nd and 3rd prizes are the same but you get less mould.Image

dusan wins guys, only just though, yes its the super efficient high flow inlet manifold from the last of the c32 v6 engines installed in the 95-97 only honda accord v6, usdm and jdm only, it has electronic plugs for air flow monitoring and something else instead of the vacuum set up(bit vague as don't entirely know), and the accord throttle body is totally different but I'm going to bolt up all the 827 bits and shove it on there and see what happens, going to take the covers off of it and compare it to a standard 827 one first.

Good luck with that Matt! Dont forget to plug the vacuum hoses leading to the variable length valves in the OE manifold. I'm not sure but i think the C32 engine fitted to the very rare USA and Jap models was a VTEC design, i know the subsequent J30 fitted to the later 3.0 V6 Accords was a VTEC and the earlier V6 Accord coupés had the C27 engine lifted straight from the early Legend/827 engine bay.

Reckon it will be either as flat as a fart until about 4000rpm or it will pull like a train from tickover all the way to about 5000rpm then run out of puff.
Cheers,
Dave

My vote is the former!

Larger engine displacement, similar redline. Looks to be more suited to making top end power.

Good luck with it and please let us all know how you get on :-)

Same here Dusan - it has the short inlet tracts good for top end which is what the standard 827 inlet has when the variable butterflies go into "short" mode. Had them stuck on the coupé for a while like that and it had no go at all until about 4000-4500rpm and even then wasn't as lively as it should have been. Copious amounts of WD40 or similar and some "manual" operation got it back how it should be.
Cheers,
Dave

bah i got it wrong dave, dusan was so close to guessing it i forgot its a c27 not a c32 its from the last of the c27a4 designated engine fitted in the accord v6 95-97, not the c32 or the j30, i knew that, but must have had c32 in my mind, this is a direct fit dave, but on the later v6 accord it used electronic not vacuum based air flow readings or something similar i bit vague about it really.

Funny thing is if you hadn't said Dusan had got it right i was going to guess US spec C27 from the 93-97 Accord coupé. Too late now but never mind.

It should be a direct fit but i wonder if you'll be able to swap the 827 sensors into the right places?

I suppose if all else fails and you want a bit more oomph, you could always find a crash damaged Honda NSX and transplant the engine, auto box and management system, Instant bolt in 100bhp boost or thereabouts! The NSX runs a C30A VTEC V6 pumping out 270bhp :
