Damn Brad you mustve been gutted! 8 grand in 91 sounds like a bargain for 90miles!

Imagine that resurrected now as it was, just taken out of mothballs...

Your pic gives me something to aim for when I get the polishing rags out!

(Got anything else like it stashed away?)

I bought it cheap as it had some slight accident damage to the nearside rear wing. I never registered it and intended to start showing it in Summer 2006 when it was written off. At the time I was very upset, aprtly because I had done everything right as regards looking after it and storing it properly for so long. It had been moved four or five times to different places and was started regularly.

As regards anything else...I did sell my 3,850 miles F reg 820Se last year and still have my 1992 K reg 800 Coupe which has just done 9,100 miles since I bought it nearly new in 1993 and it's twin with 129,000 miles on it which actually drives nicer! I also have an H reg 820SE auto fastback in bronze with 17,900 miles on the clock. But no more delivery mileage cars. I do know of one with a few hundred miles on it in Swindon (I think it's a Mark 2 1993/4 820) but the owner won't sell.

I've never got on with Photoshop but I've only ever tried to dive in without any help so I've only myself to blame. A complex task sometimes needs a complex tool although like everything I'm sure its simple when you know how.

As I'm using a Windows PC at the moment, I've been doing it the hard way and using the built-in Paint program.
You can use that to pick up the bum end of the saloon, move it forward over the rear door handles and then pick up other bits of the background to cover up the resulting hole.

Nimble fingers maybe, plus I've been bodging pics like this for some years. You just have to lead the eye away from the duff bits! For instance, the line dividing the gravel and grass behind the car goes diagonal, then horizontal, but if you look through the rear window the line of the gravel is still diagonal.

Thats exactly how I "photoshop" some of my cars, I also use it to design business logo's, I've never used or even seen "photoshop"

A longer door may be more appropriate for the mk1 coupe:

I only had time to cobble the back end. Lengthening the mid section like a real coupe would stop it looking stubby. I actually left it a bit long at the back so it was almost right. But it does do the job of judging the mk1 styling cues against the 2 door bodystyle. I think it would work.

Just use a Legend and swap the bumpers and wheels.

I didn't have one kicking around at the time!

I also wanted to see what Mk1s look like with painted rear number plate panels - borrowed Ed's SLi as I love it, let me know if that's not a good idea and I'll bin the pics

And for that 400 that ate all the pies look..

Well it occurred to me that when they did the R8 update that got rid of the grey bumpers and lower panels, they either went to black (or very dark) number plate surrounds or painted them. As Ed's SLi also has a painted lower half it made sense to try it out.

Course, now I've said it I'll have to try grey and (almost) black now!

I would get the grey one and do the lower bumpers and doors grey to match but I think I'm done for now!

Old 14" steel wheels

Post by mjc9967 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:53 pm

By the way, anyone need a set of five 14" steels? They came off this car and are currently in St Albans in the garage (I have no room to store) - they told me today they will get rid of them in a week or so. Tyres are all perished and low so rims only.

Prefer they werent chucked if somebody needs them...
