It's got an MOT again!

For the first time since 2011 the Sterling has an MOT! :D :D :D Even better it has no advisories which is a bonus. So far in recommissioning it's had all new belts (including the cambelt), a complete new exhaust, a new fuel filler, new tyres, brakes , all filters and obviously oil and water so a pretty comprehensive list. It just needs some attention on the alternator (keeps popping the main fuse) and then it'll be ready to come home.......but only briefly as it's then off for bodywork. It's going to have a complete respray and repair to the sunroof aperture as this is suffering from the normal mk1 rust however thankfully most of the rust appears to be surface corrosion so hopefully nothing too drastic. When all that's done it'll then come home to have a nice double DIN android head unit fitted and the high end stereo refitted. :D

Really looking forward to getting her home now, it's kind of sad that we moved house 2 years ago and she's never once graced this driveway......that should change on Friday!

Congratulations James! Not surprised there were no advisories, it's nearly a new car with everything that has been renewed for the recommissioning!

From the sound of things it will be like a new car when you do finally get it back, at least never having been to your new house, looking like a new car when it does get there really will grace your driveway! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Recommisioning a car is a really good feeling. I did it to Johns 2.7 Stirling last year. All suspension points changed, and had previously done a top half engine rebuild.

On another note, R511BRW is getting an engine and gearbox rebuild soon.
The diff siezed in the original box, and the replacement that was supposed to be a reconditioned one, actually whines quite a bit. And the engine has several leaks, needs the waterpump doing, and it has scabby front arches.
It is still getting driven though :)

It's good to hear that the old girl is still on the road! Could have done with it over the last few days, front wheel drive and a limited slip diff made it great in the snow. :D

I'll post some pics of my Sterling when she's back on the drive.......will end up parked next to my other toy that I'm picking up tomorrow

She should be home tomorrow! Have just taxed and insured it and arranged to collect it at lunch time, really looking forward to being behind the wheel of the old girl again!

Is the alternator still blowing the main fuse? They haven't trapped a cable somewhere or something daft have they?

If it is the alternator, i might be able to help you out. I have one but i don't know if it's good, bad or indifferent - PM sent about it.
Cheers,
Dave
