Just for future reference :

Which welded nut do you mean, the one in the slam panel?

The one that you bolt the headlight brackets to. It just kept spinning and because I was replacing the headlight I just cut the plastic bracket. Fitted a normal nut after I got it off.
That glass kit is handy. But my reflectors were shot.

Re: 827 Vitesse
That's the slam panel then.
The big thing you'd need to keep is the Mk1 housings because they are the only ones with the loops for the grille to clip onto. You can get hold of reflectors from later lamps to fit into the housings and same goes for the lenses but the housings are the important bits. You can probably repair the ear that you sliced to remove the old one with a bit of glue to hold it in place then Araldite a piece of aluminium over the top to reinforce it with a hole for the fixing screw.
I'm working on a method of reviving the reflectors at the moment, so far it's worked on the front indicators very well but time will tell. The reflectors on my Volvo are a bit tarnished so they might be next on the list for repair.
