Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
There is a slight kink in the middle section about 6-12" from the flange where it joins the cat/front section if that gives you more of a clue?
Starting from the back and working towards the front is a good way to do it as well.
Thought it would be the 8mm hose, think the other fuel line (return) is smaller at 6mm so your leak was on the pressure side.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
Today is a day off. My back didnt love being abused most of the day yesterday and I need to think a bit about some details in the fitting of the exhaust. First plan is to bring my welding equipment here. Next is to make a mock-up-fitment to see if any kink is needed.
Dave, as I have the old system on the floor the kink is obvious but I’m not sure it is needed. There is plenty of room in the transmission tunnel and as the ex is so small in bore it should be possible. Just need to check things like the gear linkage not fowling. Actually I have a hydraulic tube bender and eventhough its not suited for exhaust pipes it can be used to make a very small kink.
But today the job is to expand the flex pipe joint ti the front pipe. The front pipe is 45mm od and the flex is 45id. But not quite. So I need to open the flex with a 1/10 of a mm.
Same with the longer pipe fitted rear of the flex. The flex is 48mm od and the tube is 48 id, or a shade under it. But that piece will be welded.
I know. Useless without pics, but they’re coming later on!

Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
The kink is there and is necessary for a strange but necessary reason Henrik. As the engine rocks on the mountings due to torque reaction, the downpipe moves up and down.
As it does this, the original flexi moves up and down, in line with the front of the middle section and the downpipes.
Without the kink, it would go up and down relative to the front pipe but will also pull the flexi sideways, leading to premature failure of the flexi section. You can reduce the effect with a longer flexi section but it's not ideal, that kink needs to be there.
For those joins you mention, deburring the leading edge of the smaller (inside) pipe and also the inside of the larger pipe will help a lot, if you have a rotary flap wheel, using that on the internal section of the larger pipe is always helpful. If you're using clamps, don't forget to slit the ends of the larger pipe so it can clamp down nicely, if not and you're welding it a smooth sliding fit is usually good, especially if it's a "firm" sliding fit.

You’re too late Dave!
No kink, but I have the original pipe so very easy to make a better bit from the flex and back after the car has an MOT. I even think the original is good enough there so would be a very easy cut and replace job.

Oh, that doesnt look anything like my old flex pipe? Probably because mine is non-cat. The flex is a lot more further back than those.
Next om the list is the brakes as I have to do them again. And the hunting idle! But it’s coming alone nicely!

Mine is a Mk2 with a cat so that is probably why Henrik. Still need to find a decat pipe for it for when i convert to LPG and the times between MoTs, technically i could get away with knocking the innards out of the cat but that can sound tinny.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
It is possible to split the surrounding casing on the cat and then weld it onto a normal ex pipe Dave. That would be better than crushing the internal. As you have old cats I would do that, using the flanges from a cat and the surrounding. A bit more work but a lot nicer.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
Correction Henrik - i had an old cat! Some thieving git stole it from my front porch! Now the plan is if i can find some flanges to weld one of these in between the flanges and fit it instead of the cat :

Just received these in the mail!
And yes the central locking works!
Sad story Dave. I will never understand why people have so hard to respecting other peoples property!

It works! both fobs are like that and the key looks like the key for the 200 coupe I had.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1 827 Vitesse (manual)
The Mk1 keys were often like that, the fob (from what i remember) was more like the Mk2 version with larger batteries but more squared off if you get my meaning.
That's not to say the others won't work, it was a Valeo system, early ones were RF, later were IR like the Mk2 and yours obviously is. As long as the reciever/pyramid is right, it should work.
Had to replace the pyramid on my Sterling to get working fobs, the fob itself started playing up so i've fitted an aftermarket RF system with alarm, just need to wire up the remote boot release now and i already get a nice indicator flash for arm/disarm too. Also if i unlock/disarm but don't open the doors, 30 seconds later it re-arms and locks.

That's a great improvement Henrik!
Isn't it great when a simple little job like that improves matters greatly - more improvement than the effort to do it would suggest, gives you more hope and enthusiasm!
