Oh Rover rubbers. They are so high quality that no more little Rovers will ever be born.
I see what you did there!

Found it: RR148.

That means the middle section you need is RR147D then!

The only other one listed is the same price from the same seller. At least you have the part number now! :D

Haha yes Dave, already been in contact with that seller. I asked for combined shipping and had the
reply: ”what car do you have?” and even though my reply was something like ”I dont drive a Honda but I want it anyway!” plus an excellent explanation the reply was ”this part does not fit your vehicle as you dont have a Honda.”
Bah!
But my plan is to order it with the Buy it now button hoping they want to sell, and it will slip through.
Sometimes eBay-sellers amaze me. I want it! I will pay! Please send it, I wont complain... Such days, but only such days I wish I bought a Volvo. Or a Ford. Bimmer... A car for the common.

They quote £19.95 to send to Sweden so shouldn't be a problem. If they do happen to remember you or want your car details, tell them to look at what else it fits as it should be listed for the Rover 825/827 (Honda engined 825) or tell them it's for a 1987 KA1 Legend saloon, 2.5L.

If all else fails, i'm sure we can sort something out! ;) :D

So. Winter is coming so updates will be rarer. The gold coupe is in the garage and the black is resting. The plan for winter is to maybe look at the spare doors I have. The original ones are not as good as the spare ones so swapping would be the smart choice.

However, this presents a problem that I really wasnt thinking about! The stripe! There is a silver stripe on the car. How the heck do I do it? Are the stripes available? Are they fitted under the clear cote? This dilemma has made me thinking it might be better to fix the original doors and only painting the lower part....

Stripes.... Advise guys...

Can't really help on the stripes Henrik but i think they are usually put on last. Worth using a hairdryer to soften the glue to see how easily they lift, there are loads of aftermarket pinstripe kits around so you should be able to find either something almost exactly the same or maybe something you like better :

Meanwhile you have a few months of evenings for research into the bits needed for your car and the benefits of your favourite drink! :D

Ok need some advice. I havent had a lot of time lately but today the plan was to look for the ”tall relay” behind the fusebox to try and sort the front lights not working.

But there is nothing there? I actually didnt remove the fusebox but managed to look behind and there are no relays there. But there is a large White plastic box with some wires going in.

Next thing. There is a large pack of electrics screwed into the detachable panel seen in this pic below. What could that be? Obviously aftermarket but what could it be?

The large pack of electrics is either an immobiliser, an alarm or both combined made by Cobra Henrik.

The big white box in the fusebox area looks like it might be one of the CCUs fitted to late Mk1s but i'm not sure, maybe Dave Dollysprint can shed some light on it?

My last Mk1 was about 18 years ago and to be honest, i didn't have any headlamp problems so never really delved under the dash - only other recent one was a late one i broke but that had various bits of wire chopped out, fitted in and so on, used as a track day car so wasn't really a good comparison.
Cheers,
Dave

Haha Dave. Its ok. You know most of the stuff from the silly questions I ask so you are forgiven! Hopefully Dave Dolly jumps in and explains. Just starting to be concerned that I need to rewire everything. :/

The white plastic box is the central locking ecu, the relay tower is on the back of that, and unless I'm mistaken I can see a couple of yellow relays from the picture up behind the white ecu. Once you drop that central locking ecu down the relay tower will come with it and expose all the relays including headlamp change over and side light relay. They are usually clearly marked with a label or at least the headlamp change over, heated rear window timer relay, interior light delay are as they are not your usual yellow or green relays.
As Dave says the rest is just an after market alarm which in my experience cause more trouble than their worth!!

I'd be more interested to know what that modification to the wiring is. That red wire joine dto the yellow with the blue Butt connector isnt standard. And then you've got the taped up red wire.

Also, your under dash bar is black. On all my Mk2's, its been galvanised metal. I know its galvanised as I have left one outside for 6 months, and no rust. If only they made all the car like that!

Thanks for that Dave, looking at that lot it's easy to see why they went down the route of a single CCU to cover all of those functions! :D

Sorry Dave, it was a busy weekend. Unfortunately it's getting pitch black here pretty early too but hopefully I can give it some time before winter.

The car had a mobile phone attached to it, and I just removed that stuff. I know it had an external alarm aswell so probably related to this. I don't dare touching that if it's an immobiliser involved... I'm not sure who did it or when it was equipped with these extras but probably many years ago. The mobile phone holder was for a Nokia, very old model so 1990s or early 2000.
