Thank you Dave.

My car hasn't the automatic air conditioning, it is the manual one, and I think that it is the same problem I had. When I will pick up my car, I will put some contact spray, because it worked last time.

My Rover is 31 years old, and maybe that's why it's noisier than when it was new, but clearly below 90/100 km/h it's not really noisy, but a little more than the Jaguar , but at 120/130 km/h it's much noisier than the Jaguar (Air noise)

Have you tried the contact spray yet Stephan?

No because my car is in Bourgogne and that I am in Angoulême.

I won't get my Rover back until Christmas. I will take some contact spray with me to do it before I will return.

Well, I have done 10000 km with my Rover since I had it 3 years and 4 month ago...

It was when I was going to a "meeting" in Jarnac, but as I was there late, there weren't many cars...

Nota : As you can see, I picked up my Rover from my brother's house.
Regarding the ventilation, I put in contact spray and it seems to work...

Nice pics but she's running a bit on the cold side Stephan! When did you last renew the thermostat?

So I never mentioned it, but the oil and water temperature gauges never work well.

Sometimes they are low, then in the middle, and come back to low or the other way around (When I'am just starting the temperatures are in the middle). Since many cars did not have such gauges, I do not look at them  .

Clearly there is a problem with the system. When I took out the counter, I put on a contact spray, but there was no improvement, so I think the 2 sensors are out of order.

Is some one know where are this 2 sensors, and which reference it is?

Exactly, I was happy to drive my car even if the weather was not very good, and I was able to renew my club membership...

The guage on the left is your engine coolant temperature - most cars have these! The one on the right is oil pressure.
The temp guage sensor is the same as used by many Ford models of the 70s and 80s, the oil pressure guage sender is a different animal, not found a second source and not sure if they're available from Rimmers anymore either.
The temperature sensor is located on the thermostat housing and is a single pin terminal.

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID004552

Item #13 in that link is the temp sensor, NLA from Rimmers but still on ebay :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234296012877

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID004547

If you look on that second diagram from Rimmers, you will see the oil pressure switch (not sender/sensor) as item #10. This is the Mk2 arrangement. Earlier cars such as yours had a T-piece there, oil pressure switch in one leg, a piece of piepwork in the other and the third leg of the T screwed into where the switch is on later cars. The oil pressure sender is on the end of the length of pipework, i think somewhere i may have one but i'm not sure.

Either way i doubt it's the sensors. Either a dry joint on the power feed to both of those guages on the instrument cluster or perhaps a poor engine to body earth or it may be the two loarge multiplugs on the right hand suspension turret. The trick with those is to disconnect the two halves in each multiplug and spray both halves with contact cleaner, refit/disconnect several times, a last squirt of contact cleaner in each then refit a final time.

One important question - does the gearbox torque converter lock-up wotk as it should? If not, renew the thermostat, preferably with one for an 89-95 216/416 and at least 82C temperature rating. The standard issue on the 827 was 78C but the gearbox needs the engine temperature to be at least 74C for the lock-up to work - on a weak 'stat there's no margin for error and the torque converter lock -up ceases to work.
Cheers,
Dave

Thank you very much Dave, as always you give a perfect answer.

But how stupid I am, I never saw that the gauge on the right was for the oil pressure !!! I really thought it was the temperature of the oil !!! So with this information, I'm going to take a look at how it works.

As you said, I will look at the connectors on the sensors and put a spray contact on them. It's easy and inexpensive.
I have already cleaned all the earths of the car

My car has a manual gearbox so I have no problem with the torque converter

These are the mulktiplug connectors i was referring to Stephan :

It's unlikely to be the individual connectors on the sensors and those multiplugs are known to be troublesome once older.

Dave

So, some news of my car.

I put contact spray on all the connectors and if now I no longer have erratic operation for the gauges (Before the gauges went from mini to maxi, then to 0 then returned to maxi in a short time ~10 minutes), the gauge of the water temperature barely rises to the minimum level, while the oil pressure gauge moves well around the middle.

I don't know if there is a problem with the gauge of the water temperature or with the sensor or if with the cold it is normal (The temperature was at 0° to 5°C when I drive the car) or something else. I have some heater without problem.
How the water temperature is in your car ?

For the speed of my fan, I put again some spray contact, and it works during some times, but after X minutes, I have only maximun speed (even when the slider is at the minimum) or nothing, and after X minutes, it works normally, but for X minutes !!!
I think that it is the variable resistance who is out of oder
Do you know what is the reference ? and where it is ?
My Rover is a 827 Sterling Option pack MKI with the manual air conditionning

Thanks for your help
