Thread drift, Whats that

You should see the amount of roadworks on the M4 in south Wales at the moment it's stupid! went to Bridgend last night with work and between Bridgend and the Servern Bridge you are either in road works or restrictions of some sort for 30 miles of the 45 miles you need to travel arrgghhh. No wonder all the teenagers in Bridgend keep topping themselves they have had enough of the road works.

Thanks to Brad, I have acquired a better bonnet than the aerosol painted one on the car, plus a pair of rear doors that are more tidy than those currently on the car. Here's the bonnet:

Compare it to the old one (which also had quite a lot of rust in it):

Looking good Richard, certainly lifts up the look of the car.

The difference is much more marked than the photos show - it really does make a hell of a difference. It also shows that the front wings are not quite the right shade, obviously having been repainted at some time before I got the car.

Both of the current rear doors have poorly matched aerosol patches on them and will be replaced with the ones I got from Brad ASAP.

I was going to say/ask that. The bumper and bonnet look the same but the wings look darker.

Insured and taxed as of today - and I'd forgotten just how ****ing quick it is!

The mk2 820 went yesterday, so I'm down to one 800 now.

Glad it'll be used (when you're about).

Did the 820 sell online? Car and Classics? I sold my 820Coupe that way last week - free and fast.

Strangley I taxed my fastback for the first time this year on Tuesday ready for today.

I've been using my Espace and the Jeep for the most part and I had the same realisation this morning. Though far worse from the Espace than you for the 820.

The 820 sold via ebay - not a great price but I needed it gone. The sterling will be used as Phillippa's backup car whilst I'm away.

I've swapped the rear doors over, too so it's looking reasonably tidy all round, now.

The Sterling has been earning its keep as daily transport while I've been away. Phillippa has been using it as her 216 is a little off colour at the moment (probably nothing significant, see separate thread).

I'm very glad I decided to get it MOTd, insured and taxed before I left the country - better to have a second car available than to just rely upon one plus a breakdown service. It wouldn't have been such an issue if I was still at home to fix stuff but I'm 3,500 miles away and that makes life more tricky.

Phillippa is really enjoying driving it too - she's remarked upon how much more quiet, comfortable and civilised it is than the 216 and how the PAS is better. It's quicker, too - that V6 and manual box make for rather sporty performance.

The roof is not quite so flexible though.

Always good to have spare cars about.
