Me & My Sterling
As it was dry today i took my Sterling out the garage for a run and took some pics of me and it together. Absolutely loved my run, the car is an absolute delight to drive and its the best car i have ever had, it will be with me for a VERY long time being taken out on nice sunny days. Enjoy the pics

Nice to see a young fella with a taste for something different.
Mint would describe the car, an often over used word by many with their cars.
Your enthusiasm is there for all to see.....lovely car.
btw
What are you averaging mpg wise Russell.
Was getting about 30mpg overall out of the Vitesse that I owned.
Yours being the 2ltr auto I`m curious ?

Thanks Yam, very much appreciated mate, ive always been a non conformist to my generation and have always preferred classic cars music tv etc. Enthusiasms certainly something im not short of as lifes too short - youve got to enjoy it Really not sure mpg wise mate as its still using the petrol that was in it but the light came on just as i was putting her away in the garage last night so the next dry day when its out ill fill up and let you know what the mpg should be, the hand book says: 19.2 urban, 37.3 extra urban, giving a combined of 27.8mpg so we shall see how that stacks up in reality!Yam wrote:Nice to see a young fella with a taste for something different.

Pics look great - they capture the change in tone of the colour under different light conditions very nicely, this is the big thing about nightfire for me.
Little tip for you, assuming yours is auto and being left parked for periods without moving: handbrake OFF and gearshift in P (as it should be anyway of course), lettign the parking pawl (think thats what its called) do the work for you. The brake calipers do like to stick on over time... I save use of handbrake on both mine for the short periods parked when away from home.

Nice pics there Russ - keep up the good work!
Couldn't help noticing the tail pipes are rather rusty (they stand out against such an otherwise beautiful car!) and wondered if this indicated a rusty exhaust system? Also have you checked the fuel filler neck for corrosion? These are now extinct so good second hand ones are at a premium, might be worth checking and if at all rusty, wire brush and hammerite the filler pipe.
Hopefully the tailpipes are the only rust on it and it will serve you well for many moons to come!

I think Rimmers sell the original tailpipe trims but i have a feeling if it's not an original box the trims won't fit. Probably better off buying a pair of chrome tail pipe trims off ebay for £7-8 each and fitting them.

Thank you all VERY much for the positive comments. In regards to the exhaust - i know, its the only thing thats letting it down and bugging me. It was MOT'D last week before purchase and the sole advisory was that the zaust will need replacing soon (its the original in the main) and its blowing slightly (thankfully the cat looks great the chap said, and it does as ive looked). So until such times as its really needing replaced and until funds allow, i went with a suggestion here - great minds think alike, just back in from fitting these, thoughts welcome (its a temp measure at £10 lol)
