hi, i have let her rest over the winter, the 1st event of the year is the 31st-1st april this year, i had a load of plans to add more hp over the winter but working 65-80hrs a week has put rest to that and almost every thing else tbh...

plans are now to renew the engine earths, and clean the earths for the rest of the car to try and get the speedo reading better (60 speedo is 68 gps)
also my daughter tripped on the laptop cable and killed the laptop, so now i nave to start again with the ecu software on a nice new 64bit machine...oh the fun...

as for making her go faster, the slicks are going to be used again also more nitrous i think the engine will be ok with 100-125 worth of gas, that should give me a nice kick off the line anyway....

my plans were over the winter to replace the rear springs, shocks, discs, pads, and brake lines, also add a pair of tow savers to reduce the rear dropping on launching the car.

plus side to the hours worked is i have got hold of a data logger so i can log the fueling/map/throttle and fuel pulses, to get a better idea of how the engine is coping with the nitrous under such harsh conditions.

Always the way with time and money it seems.

Rick T on here has been playing with his MK1 speedo to gain accuracy. Might be worth seeing what he's done?

Yes, basically you just take the needle off and put it back on where you want it. Takes a little force to pull it off, I prised it off with a small screwdriver, and take a bit of messing about changing and testing, but I managed to get mine to where I'm happy with it.

Obviously if you've got a gearing alteration (wheels / tyres maybe) then this will have a percentage effect all through the speed range, so my method might not help, but it could allow you to set it to be accurate at an important speed, e.g. 30 / 70, you certainly don't want to be thinking you're doing 60 when you're really doing nearly 70 !!

tbh i have had a prompt to get the speedo sorted as i got tugged for entering a motor way at excessive speed... told to sort it asap as next time i'll get a note to show how out it is...

my issue is when cold, as in 1st drive of the day it's showing under 60 at 3k in top. however after a drive and a restart, say 10-20 miles and 10 min rest, it will read 65 at 3000. and the gps says 68-69 at 3000. so i am assuming a bad earth at the moment, it could be a tired stepper driving the guage after 24yrs, i have noted a few times that it does not start to read until i hit 2k in 3rd then it jumps to 30ish when it's below 0 outside. If its more that that i have another 6 dial unit that i can use, but the odometer is 20k lower :P

right it's been a long time.....

i have the front head off.....
the tdc sensor has most of it's potting compound allover the side of the engine (melted) and cyl 5 seams to have blown the gasket into the oil way... not bad as its a semi wet liner....

anyway, i am really pondering what to do next..... do i rebuild the engine and sell her as a running car of sell the parts on (heads, exhaust, etc....)

Might be easier to "just" drop another engine in?
One or two 800s...
