It was the largest size I could buy in the UK. It has caused some friendly inquisitive and pleasant conversations in a few places whilst using the car this week. I have done about 500 miles and it's been fab.
No longer an 800 owner!

Had a bit of a blow from the centre pipe and the back box was looking a touch shagged. To keep the cost low I rummaged around to see what I had in my garages.

Now fixed

It's always satisfying to do a job that way. I did something similar on my mk1 Sterling when I fitted an 820 rear box - in my case I welded the flange on but it was the same principle. again, I felt no difference in performance etc.

Most of my Montego 2.0 carb exhaust system is EFi. Yes, it's different. But yes, it all goes together.

That is, after some men with a blowlamp and hammers reshaped it to fit in the right place and twisted it so it didn't hang below the sump.


Better 'go' because it doesn't have holes all over it now, and less noise because the silencers are bigger.

This car has now done 5000 miles in my care. Without a hiccup. It has used no oil and water. I feel a major service is in order.
No longer an 800 owner!

A kv6 thats covered 5000 miles in no time at all and hasn't cooked, careful people will begin to think they are reliable 8)

How true.

I guess after 14 KV6 cars, both 800s and 75s, all with the head gasket problem at some point in my ownership, I was bound to get a good one eventually. Early days yet.

P.S. I was last serviced last Spring. I need a good 12 months to recover before getting my dipstick wiped with an oily rag again, Dave :oops:

Tis a shame though. as you know its a bloody good engine to drive if its piston liners would stay in the right place.

As for any pleasure I have with an oily rag, and in the company of persons yet to reach retirement age I shall decline to comment for fear of corrupting said persons.

But as a fully fletched member of the Peoples Liberation Front of Judiah and in the words of Monty Pyphon I defend your right to be serviced once a year, with or without an oily rag and further defending our right to wear, or not wear as the case my be, womens clothing, further you shall not be spat upon, flogged, stoned or hung for buying said clothing from Primark or any other retail outlet. Further I would expect you to defend my right to be serviced once a year, with or without an oily rag, whilst or whilst not wearing womens clothing and whilst wearing a fake ginger beard...................or not.

Sorry I've run out of cigarettes :oops:
