I think that is really bad. Surley a classic car show should encompass the manufacture's of the country it is being held in. Just a few random's doesn't give a good impression to younger people as to what can be deemed an obtainable classic.

Getting a stand at the NEC is not easy.
In my former role as Events Co-ordinator for the Princess and Ambassador OC it took ages to eventually get selected (and in fairness that was achieved initially with 'contacts'). I organised and ran stands for three years (if you remember a stand with monitors showing BBC-B "Mode 7" teletext displays that was my handiwork! )
Anyway, this year I tried to arrange another stand (this time for a Princess/Wedge internet group rather than the OC), and was given the "computer says NO" response (sorry, too full).
Me being the tenacious so and so I am, I have put in another application for a Wedge stand. I always apply in person and did so on Saturday.
Here's hoping.
Oh, if anyone needs any advice for arranging a stand at the NEC I would be happy to help.

I actually sent an email to Andy Rouse who is the show manager, to say that I felt it was a shame, with Birmingham and Coventry being so local to the NEC, that there were NO Allegros, Maestros or Princesses this year. Newer cars like the 800 will struggle to get a space I think, unless you can come up with a damn good reason why you should be there. The Tomcats made it....it's not impossible. (Mind you one of them struggled to leave lol ) I'd like to see them.....but you have to convince the organisers. I also said that the Triumphs, all BL cars etc etc should be together in one big celebration of British cars. Whether little voices like mine will ever have an impact I doubt, but if enough people say it....maybe they might listen.

Keep trying. If you persist long enough you will get in. Dont just fill in the form, write a covering letter. Tell them why your cars should be there. I've already told them they should!Alex Sterling wrote:Getting a stand at the NEC is not easy.

There was one Maestro, a GORGEOUS Moonraker Blue Vanden Plas Series 2 (V. early S2) with Osprey leather, on the VPOC stand.
