Sat in Pirbright yesterday and this beauty rumbled along and parked up opposite me!! Couldn't resist having a look around her and taking a couple of pics!! Enjoy....

1-1985 Vitesse Manual same spec as the one you spotted, engine is A1, body is being restored a bit at a time nothing is a major issue on it. Used as a daily drive in North Wales area

2-1978 Brown 3500 Auto just clicked onto 40k this weekend engine A1 bodywork good but paint has faded in places

3- 1984 2600S Manual bought in April for £465 has a few idling issues but slowly getting better, arches dealt with last month, looking better all the time.

I think I prefer the front of a series 1 without the chrome.

With the look of SD1s, I think the later the better.
Out in the desert with a 1998 Grand Cherokee V8, 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4L and a 1997 Chevy Tahoe V8. Back home: 1969 MGC GT

For me they are all fab (regardless of year or engine), but for me to own one, the one criteria is they must have the V8 engine.

And one is on my shopping list...
One or two 800s...

After driving properly made cars, any/all SD1s are a disappointment. I have had early 3500s, late 3500s, Vanden Plas and the 3500S. All rattly, shaky, unreliable rotters. And that includes the R reg I bought as a 12 month old car in 1978.

Great design, great concept, Italian influenced styling...frustrating.

Love 'em to bits though. Just don't want the liability of owning one again. :cry:

My dad has sort of said the same thing to me.

He says I should leave it at wanting one.

I do like the SD1, but I was put off it back when it became the choice of weapon for a certain type of overweight yuppie 30 something before the BMW became the perceived car to have. After that it was the upmarket Cortina boyo's tart trap (in Sarf London area at least). I liked it again then lol. Now, it is becoming a classic in it's own right. And beginning to attract attention and prices. Amazing how similar certain aspects of it is similar to the 800 (body wise)

i see i'm not the only one to love um, i did have one for about 2 weeks untill when i got a flat tyre i tried to jack it up :? the jack points ( who makes box section a jack point ) where full of rust, so tried jacking on the body and after 5 mins of jacking the car was still on the ground, :? looked in the boot and there was the jack :shock: :shock: it had gone straight through the floor ( well the carpet and rust ) :roll:
