in my humble opinion i think there are a lot of 800s out there a lot more than we think lots of the owners do not bother with forums unless they have a problem as such i live in a medium sized village there are 4 800s
here that i know of and none of the owners use any forums so i have two towns nearby luton /Dunstable both have at least 20 800s if not more and only one out of that apart from me is a member on a forum and he also drives a nightfire coupe

There are certainly alot more Rover 800's still current, but many of them are still owned by people who see it as a car and nothing else.

Alot of those owners dont really know/bothered about what they've got. To them, it is car, it gets them from A to B and helps with lugging people/things around.

800's though are starting to fall into enthusiasts hand, or at least people who respect them albeit a little slowly.

After starting to post on here I am surprised just how many Mk1's there are and a lot in good nick too.
I tried a few scrappies last year for 800 bits and from a choice of 12 near me (mostly in Bury though) not one 800 was seen.
If I had the off-road storage space I'd have a couple more to save especially this one. Probably the best Mk1 I've seen for ages (no offence to anyone else).

On my travels out and about I don't see them either. Maybe it's dependant on the area?

Just up the road from me there is two 800s. A gorgeous black saloon cruised past me this afternoon whilst I was on my balcony. I see several others fairly regularly. I must carry my camera and get some pics. Must admit, most are Mk2, apart from a rather tatty black saloon, which is expertly driven by a lady.

I do see 800's when I am out and about but they are 99.999% Mk2's

Just done Cornwall and back from Manchester....only saw one Gold Mk2 saloon 820 on the motorway

I see a few R17's here in Staffordshire, generally driven by the older person, this could make me the youngest 800 driver in the Midlands (!!) There does seem to be a natural increase in numbers as you head towards Kings Norton/Rubery area (wonder why!!)

What I don't see very often is early R17 or any XX versions. I know theres a few squirrelled away in places like Halesowen where Lord Sterling seems to find them!

The only Mk1 I know of around here is a very clean G reg 827Si fastback in Flame Red. Apart from that they are all Mk2, probably about 5 that I have seen regularly.

On my daily commute I often see a couple of late Mk2s in "varying" condition.

I have recently seen a nice silver over grey Mk1B Sterling in and around Chard, Somerset a few times (not got the reg) and a few months ago between Honiton and Collumpton, Devon I saw a BRG Mk1B Sterling.

Other than that, the most 800s I see are when I head down to my barn. And of course my Vitesse when I see its refection in shop windows!

Only three that I've noted in my immediate area (circa 2 miles around my house)...mine, a W-reg BRG 820 saloon and a slightly down-at-heel L-reg Sterling fastback in black. No Mk1's at all...

Oh and my father-in-law's KV6 Sterling when he visits...

Still by the same token I reckon I only see one original (ie. BMC/BL/ARG Mini on a reasonably regular basis).
