Uncanny - I had almost exactly the same problem. So I got a few people to help, put the car into Push mode, but it wouldn't budge.

When I was in the RAF we were training pilots for the Saudi Arabian air force and one of them complained that the aircraft radio didn't work when selected to "O F F" mode
