Hospitalised!

Post by George Snr » Mon Nov 14, 2016 2:54 pm

Hi Guys,

I have been in hospital for just over a month due to a quad heart bypass, came as a complete surprise to me and the family> I suppose I was lucky that my heart attack happened whilst I was in the doctors surgery awaiting to be fitted with a 24 hour heart monitoring device, I remember saying to the wife 'Wont be long' who I left in the car!
I have now been home for just over a week now and making a slow and restful recovery.

I have missed being able to look on this forum and make the odd comment and read the on goings of forum members experiences, but mostly miss being unable to tinker and drive my SLi. I now look forward to the spring and being able to get behind the wheel of my 800 again. :D

George.

Wow talk about being in the right place at the time.

My Mum similarly found herself having a developing heart attack whilst seeing the docs in hospital, had just popped to the loo after they took her ECG followed about 2 mins later by a bevy of nurses who, having had doc look at the printout, were rather anxious to get her back in the room! "Just" a stent needed that time, but we do imagine what would have been had she not been there when it happened.

Hopefully your recovery will continue well and you'll be back out under the car's bonnet again, now that they have finished with yours! :D

Jeeeezzz!!!! it's a good job Swampy retired George! (Remember Swampy, protested at the building of new roads, particularly bypasses! ) He would have had a field day protesting about a quad-bypass! :D

Joking aside, it's good to hear you're home and recovering well - i hope your wife wasn't left too long in the car by herself?

Hopefully come the spring and the better weather (let's face it, you couldn't do much tinkering in Fenland "mizzle" or any of the other weather phenomena we're experiencing) you'll once again be able to get out and tinker properly again but take it easy when you do! Try not to get too frustrated when you find things take longer and wear you out quicker although that's easier said than done! Best to take things a day at a time and be realistic with your goal for that day but it takes a while to work out your new limits.

Meanwhile enjoy your rest and concentrate on getting better! :D
Cheers,
Dave

Get well soon George.

Maybe looking forward to some springtime tinkering will speed your recovery.

Get well soon. I had 10 hours of open heart surgery 6 years ago (almost to the day) - repairing an aortic dissection and fitting a new valve, so I know what you're going through. Hopefully you'll be fighting fit as quickly as I was :)

Flipping heck - glad to hear you're on the road to recovery.

And I can't believe it's been that long Rich! How are you getting on with the Patrol?

I'll be selling the Patrol, I've never really warmed to it. I'm sticking with Jeeps - they break, but they have character and are easy/cheap to work on :)

Many thanks for all the kind wishes guys.

I had some good news today, a shadow that appeared during a scan on one of my kidneys and was suspected as a suspicious growth has been diagnosed as a small cyst, so a return in 12 months time for a ultrasound scan, what a relief!

Yes Dave , I'm glad Swampy has retired, but I think he would have his protesting cut out with four!

Once again many thanks and looking forward to next year,

George. :D

He would indeed George! Also great news that shadow turned out to be a benign cyst rather than anything "nasty"!

Keep us all posted on your progress! :D

Get well soon George, we are all here thinking of you. We are all getting to be old timers on here.

Hopefully, the next bypass you come across, it will be a sunny day, driving your 800, sun roof open and with your favorite music playing on the radio..
