Agreed values

I hope someone that can help might read this. I joined the Rover 800 owners club and sent a message enquiring about getting an agreed value to send in to my insurance company.

Unfortunately I've had no response.

Seeing as the values are rising and the condition of my car I feel it is worth considerably more than the current agreed value. I thought the club would be able to assist me, or have I misunderstood?

Many thanks, I hope someone can help.

I should mention that I enquired about 2 months ago and have not heard back from anyone at the owners club to date.

Simon, I suggest you send a PM to Dave as he is the go between regarding the club and the forum and may be able to provide you with some answers as I know they are holding a conference call sometime next week.

Who are you insured with Simon? most companies will agree a value with you at the time of purchase. Mine do.

I know that with other companies they ask that you send in four photos of the vehicle (one from each corner) with interior shot confirming mileage. You could also go for the alternative but think it may cost, but do not know how much and that is to have an independent assessor value the car.

Hi Steve, I use Peter Best, it's a classic insurance policy, with an agreed valuation. I just feel the car is worth quite a lot now but feel I would like something additional to back up what I feel the car is worth. Hence the request from the owners club.

Apologies, Simon that you didn't get any reply. I haven't seen the email and have only just seen this thread.

We do have a member of the Committee who is a qualified "valuer" for insurance purposes. That may assist.

I am insured with Peter James, who allow you to 'self-certify' the value of the car providing it is under (I think) £15,000 but they require photographs. I think it varies dependent on who you are with.

I have just had my renewal with Footman James for 4 cars all with agreed values for £350 so around £85 per car fully comp on classic ins.

I think its a fair deal.

When i bought mine many years ago i put down an agreed price of £3500 and that has always been every year the same figure i think it's worth that and the insurance company seem to agree as i have questioned this just in case something does go pear shaped. However if values go up will our insurances go up to offset the costs i suppose time will tell as they become rarer more sort after personally i will keep mine because i enjoy it
