Last Saturday, went on an epic collection trip around the country.
Left Croydon at around 7.30 and went to Simon Hubbards house in Twycross. Arrived around 10.30 after an accident on the M40 and a country detour through Long Itchington. Weather was pretty crap.
Had a nice chat, well earned cuppa, and left with 3 Coupé sills of the New profile.
Onwards to Lakenheath to see Dave to collect a set of Old Black and Decker drill attachments for my wife. She wants to make model Dolls furniture and wanted a small lathe.
Whilst on route a Dark blue Rover 800 pulls out in front of me, and I spot XOG on the plate. 'I know that car/reg'.
Cue a few miles of the 2 of us swapping positions back and forth as we admire each others cars until we can stop.
It's cold, wet, rainy and windy and we are somewhere near Peterborough on a layby standing there chatting cars. Turns out that despit having the forum sticker, it's no longer a forumite car. And I have a few bits he needs. We have previously spoken on
Passers by must have thought we were mad. We are.
Onwards on my journey to Lakenheath, happy in the time taken to chat to another 800 lover.
Arrived Lakenheath 3.15 and waitied for Dave.
After another good chat, and cuppa(s) left and made my way home, via a much needed food stop. Used the Shell/Macdonalds near Thetford where I had annother strange encounter.
Reported an iffy cistern to the lady behind the Shell counter who commented on my accent and asked where I was going.
Turns out she has lived up there for 24 years but comes from Purley. We had a good chat about the area, She knows where I work!
Arrived back home 11pm-ish and fell asleep.
Following day, I built a workshop area for the wife in the garage after having a move around of stuff.
Worktop was a bargain.
3m 38mm thick worktop listed as £88 with £40 off went through till as £20 at the local Wicks. Didnt care on the colour, just got the cheapest that was listed on the floor.
Also made a model Penny Farthing out of old bike parts for my mate on the Friday evening. Out in garage till midnight before all I did on Saturday!
Any. Heres the proof.

Two 800's on a wet windy main road
My rather extensive garage, now a mess as i build the workstation for the wife.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading that. The Rovers together are a great sight.
