Morning Chris - not much has changed, a few new members, a few cars have changed hands, SNAFU really except slower than it used to be.

When are you getting your next 800 then? :P   :D
Cheers,
Dave

Slower? Is that possible? :D

Can't see that happening honestly. I been tinkering with lots of things that aren't cars lately.

I've done a few silly jobs in my Mondeo but no major work. It's possible it may be up for sale soon depending on whether we can find the right Astra that my other half wants to swap hers for.

Trouble is I'm really struggling to find anything worth swapping it for. Used to be so easy when I wanted something else in the past. Now I find my list of requirements grows by the day and the pool of cars shrinking as a result. :D

Seems fewer people are doing fewer things on fewer cars Chris and those that are, aren't getting as many problems as of old.

The trouble is, when you get older, your requirements of automotive DNA become more specific and while whatever you buy may have its inherent faults, you find you are prepared to live with them for the sake of getting the bits you really need/want.  :D

Dave

Summer is not a good time for buying another car. Its good for sellers but not for buyers. Wait till Jan/February. After Christmas, few people are flush with cash and one stands a better chance of finding what you want at a lower price. Who is prepared to go look over a car when it is cold and icy? Thats the time, in my experience, that you stand a good chance of finding the car you want from a desperate seller.

I know what you mean, for me it's just a spec thing. We've decided to share one 'new' car day to day and I'm undecided whether to keep mine as a skip or swap it for something else.

Trouble we have is the car we're after is very rare and it will be a case of buying it when it's there as another one might not come up for a while.

A new shape 'Sports Tourer' (estate) to normal people.

The complications arise when it comes to the spec of the car.

The largest engine available is a 1.6 Turbo (petrol of course). So naturally I want that which is the rarest version.

Then it must be an SRI even though the Elite is a higher spec as we don't want leather seats.

Then I need to hope whoever ordered the car picked the right boxes for the options we want.

Such as it needs to be the NAV version as the screen is nicer. Plus winter pack for heated seats, climate control rather than just AC. Parking pack which adds a rear camera and probably other things.

Plus it needs to be in the right colour. Silver or blue and for good measure a particular wheel design. :D

It would be easier to order a new one but less than 1 year old cars with 5K on them or less are around 10K cheaper than a new one!

There's currently 10 cars on Auto trader at the minute but for one reason or another none fit the bill.

Waiting game now.

How do Rich/Simon. What's new in your world's?

Not much changed here - still working in the Middle East training pilots for Etihad. Still got my red Grand Cherokee but replaced the white Cherokee with a Grand Cherokee V8 (thread to follow soon). Also added a very cheap Saab 9-3 convertible to the stable (thread on that to follow).

Eldest daughter has just graduated from Cambridge with a 2:1 and currently waiting for GCSE results for the youngest (fingers crossed).

How much longer do you think you'll be there Rich? Any plans for moving back here one day?

Just spotted the threads, so I'll have a proper read.

You must be very proud they're doing so well? I'd seen a few bits off Facebook.
