Recently bought this for the other half due to her change in job's meaning she has some pretty "rough ground" to cover.
1993 200TDI with 116k on the clock, some minor issues on the body and a few minor electrical gremlins (rear heated screen etc)
Currently on white disco rims with 205x16's fitted(not the ones shown).

Plan is to improve it over the summer (if we get one LOL).

List so far, (her list)
Standard checquer plate on bonnet and wings.
White Wolf heavy duty steel rims on XZL's
Techno grey (looks like checquer plate design)or LR Logo Black seats with matching rear bench seats and cubby box.
Sound proofing.
New full headliner (without safari light cut outs.)
TD5 style center radio console
Late TDCI rear speaker pods with TD5 ones up front.
Heated front screen.
Lamp guards.
Genuine Mil spec Bumper.
Side steps.
(She don't want much!)

Very nice "proper" Landrover Mal, mind I have to say in my search for some seats for my Disco I am absolutely staggered at how much some Defender seats cost, some of them wont see no change out of £700
Clearly the seats have moved on from the time when we used to drive Series Landrovers for the Queen but £700.
Hope Mrs Mal enjoys her new toy.

Dave

problem with the 90 Richard, is that they tend to hold higher prices in good order than 110's or 130's.
the fact that they are small, fairly easy to maneuver etc, makes them better for "town" and "Country" use.
And easier for the opposite sex to drive LOL!.

If you can put up with slow acceleration and a bumpy ride, they are good fun on road and off.

I'm used to the bumpy ride, but I'm also used to the performance of my large-engined Jeeps.

Not common out here - not affordable in the UK :)

That looks a really nice nice car

Not wishing to pry or anything but what sort of money do these types of car go for? Bearing in mind I know nothing about the different model types.

We got this one, which is a 1993 200 TDI with 116k genuine miles for 4100.

But even older versions can go for that and more.
My 2003 130 TD5 was bought for 10k with 91k on the clock and full history. But then there is only a small market for the largest of defenders.

Just check them on ebay to see the kinds of prices they go for.

Being "un-messed with" IE no mods etc made it a better buy and means we can sort it to a standard and spec we want, and not some one else's choice.

Also a lot of modifications do not add value at all.

Main items are good drive train, solid chassis and bulkhead. After that everything else is easily and reasonably cheap to replace in comparison to having to fit new bulkheads or chassis.

The improvements are coming along nicely. :D

New chequer plate for front wings and bonnet.

Proffessionaly refurbished WOlf XD Tubless rims and new 7.50 x16 XZL's
New side step

Mechanically:
New brakes all round
New front bearings
New exhaust downpipe
"Belts & Braces" service including new water pump etc

Have a set of Techno seats and a cubby box yet to fit.

How is the refinement compared to a Sterling? :)

No electrical issues, but the "ride" has no comparison to a sterling! LOL

I've been so busy doing other things, that the improvements to her 90 have been done as and when time and parts allocation allows.

She still has no radio fitted!. (but the new tyres have given it back that typical Land Rover "Hum" when driven ;) )
