Ah the sound of a 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 or 12 Cylinders is magic
A friend came this afternoon with is new Tesla 3 Dual Motors Performance, and I tried it, it goes very fast, had a good handling but it misses the sound of a good motors
Just for "pleasure", my Audi 5 cylinders :

Thanks Stephan - that also brings back memories! Only ever had one Audi, the 100 CD5E with the 2.2 K-Jetronic 5-pot. Nice car and from a time when Audi still made good cars.Lodein wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 6:14 pmAh the sound of a 5 / 6 / 8 / 10 or 12 Cylinders is magic

Just to join in and it's somewhat restrained but still a bit more vocal than when it left the factory, my Volvo after changing the back-box :

Oh wow that Audi sounds lovely!
The sun visors looked tatty and had torn sadly:
I had some material left from the work on my headlining so work started:
First removed the old clotch:
Masking:
Sprayed on the gcloth glue:
Making to size and using a spoon to make it fit:
Then i used quick drying glue to glue the edges:
Not the result of a profesional but i am well chuffed:

Great work there Marc! The "not the work of a professional" as you put it gives them character as if they have never been damaged, just grown older gracefully.
One question though - is that a nice piece of wood inside the visors?

Good job Marc.
I was very surprise when I saw mine in the 827 Sterling, clearly the sun visor with fabrics in one side and plastic in the other is very cheap.

@ Dave: Thank you. I agree. Like old houses.
No it is the old foam/artificial material that changed colour over the years. Looks like wood i agree.
@ Lodein: Thank you! Yes indeed it could be better but then again, most cars did not have fabric at all.

Re: 1982 Rover 3500 V8 Vanden Plas automatic.
Continued the work on my Rover SD1! Last year i did a lot of welding but i noticed one last spot that i left alone then. Now that is tackled as wel. It was a rust spot in the left rear foot well. Not as bad as the front foot wells but it needed doing.
Lets start!
The hole:
The plug:
Rust removal:
Hole seen from the bottom and prepared for welding:
Made a new plate:
And there you go:
Rust preventive primer:
After drying i applied seam sealer:
Normal primer over the sealer so i can add some colour:
Colour:
Now it can sit and dry. After this i can reassemble the interior. All the welding is now finished!!! I will install body stone chip spray on the underside on the place were i welded.
Then i started on the next project. I noticed some surface rust on the inside of the rear bootlid. Lets go!
Removed the rust:
Rust preventive primer:
Normal primer:
Colour:
Clear coat:
Then i cleaned the inside of the tailgate, the wiring and the licence plate lights (replace those bulbs as well). I also sprayed the connections for a good connection.
Then i put some cavity wax in the tailgate to preserve it all and assembeled it all with new screws:
The Rover SD1 is getting better every time i think!

Re: 1982 Rover 3500 V8 Vanden Plas automatic.
I did not quite finish the welding. I found some mior spots that needed attending. These were formed because of the larger hole i fixed last time. Wate/moist got in and did its thing. No matter, cleaned and welded in new steel:
After welding:
Rust preventive primer:
Bodyschutz over the last repair and the one made today:
Black stone chip spray:
And the inside:
Now i finished welding!
Now another project that bothered me for a while. When i bought the SD1 i did some work on the scuttle pannel but it was not realy a nice job. And now i wanted to have a better result. Also, the scuttle pannel had formed some surface rust.
Cleaned and prepped everything and covered the Rover:
Rust preventive primer:
Normal primer:
Then applied colour coat in a way it would blend in the old paint:
Then i applied 2K clear coat from a spray can. Nice result with a deep shine i think:
Because i had some clear coat left and you cant save it after activating i decided to attend to some other things as well. In the past i tried to make the rear right and front right door look better. I used 1K clear to finish but that did not hold well. Lost shine and cracked after some years. Forst removed the old work and applied primers:
Result after colour blend and 2K clear coat:
Also on the left rear quarter i tried some work when i bought the car but not with great result. Now re did it all and with better result i say:
