The left rear footwell is done. All cleaned up and fitted again:
Image
After this, the interior was fitted all again.

Painted a strutt that goes in the engine bay:
Image
The scuttle panel almost together again. Only the wipers are missing:
Image
Because i had to paint them. Did the rear one as well:
Image
Primer:
Image
Semi gloss black:

And complete. I put some cavity wax in the seems between the glas and bodywork:
Image
Another detail attended to. The rims need doing in the future but the hubcaps were looking even worse. Work to do!:
Image
Plastic primer:

Silver:

And then.... I was thinking about what next. Leave them silver, make the emblem itself black, grey and make the emblem silver (like original) or something else. On the internet i came across a blue SD1 2600 with the hubcaps in colour of the Rover badge. I liked it a lot! It had to be that. I coloured the emblems by hand and that was a satisfing and presize job:
Image

Then a colleague applied 2K clear in the spray booth:
Image

After all that work and messing with the old chap, it was time for a spa threatment! Wash, claybar and wash again:
Image
Then i gave it a machine polish with compound and another wash to get rid of polish dust:
Image
Image
Image
I realy like the hubcaps!! :)
Image
Then i went home and put a fresh coat of wax on the bodywork!:

This car came a long long way and i am feeling quite proud! :)

More excellent work Marc, i definitely like the centre caps!

A technique i've used successfully many times in the past, mainly on badges with chamfered edges but a silver front and black edges is to spray the badge silver with a few good coats of paint.

Once dry, spray with Matt Black (for the edges of the badges) then using a block of wood to keep the sandpaper/wet'n'dry flat, lightly sand the front of the badge to remove the black from the front of them, revealing the silver underneath.

This is surprisingly effective at creating the badges as they once were, a coat or three of clear lacquer gives them a nice shine and a bit of a sheen on the Matt Black edges.

Your work on the centre caps reminded me of this technique - i've not used it for ages though!

Cheers Dave!!

Ah yes i know that technique. My colleague showed me that with one of the centrecaps of my Rover 827 Vitesss. Worked well. But i must say i enjoyed to use my pencil and colour the emblem. Like a kid at school! :) Never grow up haha.

Last things to do. It was time for the annual oil change. This time i decided to do an engine oil system flush. Good result and the engine runs even more quite. After the flush drained the old oil and flush solvend, porred in half a liter of new oil and drained that as well. Then installed the new oil filter and the plug. Then new oil was added. I also replaced the brake fluid:
Image
Image
Then i did another job. The right side rear window never realy worked. The door was gutted from most of the components after some work and components were missing. I ordered these parts like the window motor+mechanism, guide plate and the wiring harnass for the right rear door:
Image
The old wiring harnas was cut aparantly so that is why i ordered a new one:
Image
One of the receiving plugs in the B-pillar was altered by someone. the fourth receiver was sawn of:
Image
Here the door is mostly assembled again. I cleaned the inside of the door, put cavity wax in the seems and sprayed in all the plugs. The plug in the B-pillar that was altered was still ussable but i only had to pas by one of the wires. I forgot to take a picture but the window works fine again!!:
Image
After all this i closed of the door with new plastic:
Image
I like symmetry so i also cleaned, cavity waxed and sprayed in the plugs on the left rear door:
Image
And closed of with fresh plastic as well:
Image

I am very happy with the car how it has turned up:
Image
Image
Image
As a cherry on the cake i also ordered ''3500'' emblems and put them on the wings. I like them!:

Nice to see the car looking more and more complete Marc! Excellent work on the window, nice touch adding the wing emblems (3500) as i'm fairly sure the Series 2 (like yours) had them as standard, unlike the Series 1 and 1.5 like my last one (square tailgate window like Series 1, stainless door mirror cover likes Series 2, recessed instruments like Series 1, gear lever like Series 2 and a few other things i don't recall now) and just finishes the wings nicely! :D

Whitout mecanism, it is sure that it will not work well !!! Was it a surprise for you, or you knew this ?

Allways a very good job Marc, and thanks for the beautiful pictures of your car.

Where did you find the plastic for the doors ?
