The car will look ok once the jobs Richard mentioned are sorted, it looks shabby but solid - original or unrestored is the trade phraise i believe. The only worrying thing was that the car came complete with a toilet in the boot - not joking!!!

Even a Sterling doesn't get a bog in the boot!

Rich I have to see that if the Lav is still in the boot when it's delivered you have to take a photo of it, it's comic value would be priceless

It was an upended white toilet pan - I just hope it was clean when it went in. The seller's location (a scrapyard) was unpromising but the car seems to be much better than it looks in the pictures. It really does look like a low mileage car that has spent a long time in a dry garage.

Austin A40s!!

So the Metro and Micra are very nearly kissing cousins!! Scary, ain't it? If i'm not mistaken that year Micra could have either the E series OHC engine or the A series OHV engine and yes, both designations look extremely similar to their BLMC namesakes!! One of the reasons i've always felt my thoughts of fitting an L24E Nissan engine in a Triumph 2000 weren't horrendously impure!!
Nearly there, but the MA10 and MA12 in the K10 (1983-1992) Nissan Micra are based on the A series. So not the same engine, but just as, if not more reliable.

I was referring to the slightly older version of this engine Kyle as fitted to the 100/120A and "New" Cherry launched in 1980 that had A-Series engine designations, wasn't aware Nissan had added the "M" to later versions of the same engine, sort of lost interest in most Nissan/Datsun models after about 86 to be honest! They seemed to lose their character after that!!

Very good indeed. Rust wise it's as you'd expect from an always-garaged, 17,000 mile old lady's car (which is what it is). Valances, sills, floorpans etc are all better than I could have expected.

I had an 11,000 miles always garaged old lady's car (micra) and it had more rust on it than my current Micra which hasn't been inside all it's life.

Obviously I agree that garaging usually does help to preserve a car, but I have experience of where it hasn't made any difference.

There will be plenty when it's been delivered - hopefully today.

Well, the seller was meant to deliver wednesday and I've had no sign of the car, no contact from him and no reply to the messages I've left for him.

On the positive side, I haven't paid for it and a now doubt very much that I will do so! I don't mind being flexible about the arrangements but this is a bit much.
