I'm sure that Steve won't mind me reporting that we managed to get his car a shiny, new MOT.

We replaced plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm (both badly corroded), one wiper blade, adjusted the rear brakes (which had nearly new shoes) and Steve had a new RH sill fitted, along with front wheel bearing (I didn't have time to do them myself). We would have replaced the coolant temperature sensor if we could have got hold of one but they seem to be unique to the K8 and no-one had one in stock - but the previous CO level of 0.6% was brought down into range by the work we did.

Whilst working on the car I can see that although some previous body repairs have been done with a short term fix in mind, the mechanical servicing looks to have been spot on. For example, the rear brake adjusters were nice and free, with plenty of copper slip on them and the same applies to drum fixing screws etc. Overall, it's a nice little car and should be good for a number of years to come. We fixed the leaky sunroof, too, although I will need to get the mig welder onto a dodgy patch of sunroof channel.

As and when time and weather permit, we're going to tidy up some of the body repairs, but job done for now.

That looks like a tidy little Metro Rich!! Pretty rust free too, considering it's white!! Always seemed the white and (Chanpagne) Beige cars rusted more rapidly and in more areas than other colours, don't know why.

Well done for getting it through the test!

Cheers,
Dave

It needs a little work around the rear arches and rear valance but overall it's better than you might expect.

The plan is for his wife to use it after she learns to drive (or maybe learn on it).
