Hi all, have just sealed a deal to buy this 1986 Rover SD1 off my friend, who i also bought my Sterling from.
The license plate is included in the sale too!!
Has been repowered with a 3.9 ltr engine.
This car, if my memory serves me correct was made about 4 or 5 months before SD1 models ceased production.
It has the side repeater indicators in the front guards, and is a Van den Plas model. The interior is a very dark drown....kinda like rich old dark chocolate!!
It drives absolutely stunningly and has the smoothest gearbox I have ever come across.
So in my garage will be a gold 1988 Rover Sterling with a gold 1986 Rover SD1.
My poor 416 Tourer will be now left outside in the elements.

I have always liked SD1's. it looks very nice indeed and great reg number. You say about the dark choclate interior which i believe was called Bitter chocolate. I assume it will be box velvet interior.

I caught a littlle bit of Motorway patrol from New Zealand on TV the other day. How does car insurance work over there. I was told you didn't have to have insurance is that correct ?
