BMC Rally

Does anyone know if the BMC rally at Peterborough is taking place this year?

The website has not been updated for a while and there is no mention of 2014.

The signs don't look good :(

Well the A40 club seem to this it's happening on the 3rd of August, so fingers crossed. The last 2 years it's clashed with family holidays but hopefully I can make sure that doesn't happen this year....if it is going ahead!

Worryingly it's not on the "Events Calendar" for the Nene Park Trust (the people that run the rally site) either :

I just hope this is an oversight and that booking is in hand (although in previous years we haven't been able to book until at least March) for the event. Have to keep an eye on things i think!

Bit of an update, i've emailed Sara this morning just to find out the "official" position on whether this is happening this year.

Top marks to Sara for a speedy reply!

The good news is that it is definitely happening, first Sunday in August as usual! (her words not mine) - the bad news is Nene Park are dragging their heels over the price so she's having a meeting with them later this month and then we should all get the paper forms sent out (for those who went last year) and a download link for those who haven't as yet been.

So we all need to be patient a little while longer!

Will you be there with the Tardis Dave, seem to remember zooming down with a Marquee the night before to find you .............erm......not there :D

As it stands at the moment Gaz, that's the plan. This year i'll make sure i can get the Tardis hooked up to the back of at least one car, regardless of my neighbours plans/actions! :roll:
However, i do need to get the Tardis out of mothballs and check it over so won't be able to confirm i'm bringing it until then.

Bit more of an update, i had an email from Sara the other day with the entry form attached. Apparently the form is available on the BMC/BLRally website but looking at it, doesn't seem to have the updated prices - or dates come to that!

Dear Enthusiast
Preparations are underway for our 21st event!

As before, it will be at Ferry Meadows, Nene Park (Nottcutts entrance), Oundle Road, Peterborough on Sunday 3rd August 2014.

The day will run with the usual attractions of the ever fantastic Auto Jumble, Tombola, Raffle, Trophies etc
Changes to note (that were in place last year too), whilst the day remains 10am—5pm, raffle draw and prize giving will now be at 3pm, and after 2012 years weather conditions, we are still forced to ensure minimal movement once you arrive, so please ensure you have money/groceries etc on you before you arrive on the field.

Camping will be available forSATURDAY NIGHT ONLY on the rally field, with no limit on numbers but ALL camping must be pre-booked and included with the entry form, and to cover the risk assessment, we must also insist that every camping vessel carries their own Fire Extingusher, and pitches will be allocated on a first come first served—saving pitches will not be allowed
PLEASE NOTE, CAMPERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GAIN ENTRY TO THE RALLY FIELD BEFORE 4PM OR AFTER 8PM and the onsite barrier is 2.1m (6ft 10in) which closes at roughly 6pm!

Whilst the Hog Roast will not be in attendance this year, we have arranged for A1 Catering to be with usSaturday evening, as well as Sunday with their wide selection of foods

There are no general Car Parking Facilities/areas on the rally field, so you need to either exhibit or park in Nene Park Visitors Car Parks

Following 2012 weather conditions, we have been forced to retain the limit on vehicle movement.
Please therefore ensure you have all groceries/refreshments/money you require before entering the field.
Should you need to move your vehicle during the event, please inform Rally Control.

Please do not be abusive to stewards (they are only doing their job) or others.
We reserve the right to ask you and your exhibit to leave the park in such cases

The organisers accept no liability whatsoever for loss or damage to vehicles, individuals or personal belongings, it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure adequate insurance is in place

Kate - will you be able to do your usual "Sterling" job of organising our club stand with Sara?

For those wishing to get their entries in, simply print a copy of this form and fill it in then follow the instructions about sending a cheque and SAE etc to Sara and put "Rover 800 Club" in the bit where it says Are you displaying with a club?
If you don't have access to a printer (like me last year) Sara will accept hand written entry forms as long as all the details are on there.

Have just spoken to Sara and have booked the club stand.

She is marvelous for organising the show despite having a really rough time over the last year.

However SHE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS.
Just to do an hour or so on the day would be fantastic. If we all pull together the show will continue. They are all volunteers and give up their own time to do all the oranising so I would be good if we could do our own little bit to help out.

She was a little despondant last year despite several pleas for help they had, from ALL the clubs presnt, one volunteer. :(

She has also asked if anyone would like to help pitch out the pegs/tape on the Saturday morning 9am, they will get free camping for the Saturday night. The old chap who does it is over 70 and could do with a bit of help.
I might try and get up to do this as I've never camped at the show before.

This is, in my opinion one of the best shows so lets have a HUGE attendance.
You've all got plenty of time to book the day off and put it in your diary.

Thanks Kate! :D Be nice to have another camper there too!

I'm planning on dragging my Tardis (trailer tent) up this year (i'll make sure i can get it out this year!) to camp in and provide tea, coffee etc facilities for the sunday.

Hi All,

what's happening, who's going, do we have a club stand etc? Doesn't seem to be any posts/threads on this (unless i've missed them) and as one of our bigger shows when we all manage to get together it seems a little odd that nothings on here?

I have a feeling she did Gaz. So are you coming over for it? I'm not sure which beast i'm bringing as have got some cooling problems with the coupe. Also need to decide if i'm camping too but that mainly depends on whether we have a club stand.
