Police 827 ooooh
Evening all
Just to let members know I have done a bit of liasing with the Mets historic police fleet organiser. They have a fantastic fleet of old police cars which are used for shows etc.
They have a fantastic 827 which apparently is the last of the 827's to be registered by the Met. Its on a P plate but has some newer features such as a passenger airbag but the old Honda 2.7 engine.
This makes it a very special car as it is the last Rover Traffic patrol car to ever be used by the Metropolitan police. There will never be another
As a serving police officer and class 1 advanced driver I am allowed to book the vehicle out (its a hard job but some one has to do it ) and take it to shows.
Range is limited to the Metropolitan Police area and home counties (a run up to Strathclyde would have been nice but I don't think the commisioner would wear that one )
So if there are any Rover meets/ car shows it could be possible to bring a fully equipped 827 up as long as it is not already booked out. All the fleet is busy with over 150 bookings this year but certainly the BMC show next year in Peterborough is a real possiblity (John W) if you were still thinking of organising something.
It would have to be a dedicated car show (not just 3 cars in a pub car park though I wouldn,t mind once again the Commisioner etc etc blah blah).
So if anyone is interested PM me and I will see what I can sort out.
I saw the actual car today. Took loads off piccys, sat in it, relived glorious days gone by then had to change me knicks It really is a fantastic piece of kit.
Hurrah for 800's they're SMASH.

Surely the title of this thread should be "Police 827 wooo wooo wooo wooo "
My Dad was a photographer and had the white 820 with TWR kit as a company car (before he bought it and then sold it to me when he retired).
One day, him and another photographer had to take some shots of a motorway and had a camera mounted on a tripod in the back. He noted that everyone's road manners improved greatly when they saw the car.

Yes! The Bromley Pageant of Motoring would be great to have it at!
What about the Pride of Longbridge event, is that special enough event to purswade your commissioner?
There was an old Met Police Metro there this year!
