BMC/BL Day, Peterborough 2011

Post by John W » Tue Dec 28, 2010 5:57 pm

Guys

I know we did discuss this last year after the last event and I agreed to make enquiries. I have been in touch with the organisers who tell me that we can get stand space at the 2011 show. Its being held on Sunday 7th August, and camping is allowed if prebooked. Application forms are not yet finalised so I'm waiting to hear on costs, but its not expensive. For anyone who hasn't been, it must be the UK's biggest gathering of British cars, accompanied by a fairly large autojumble. It's set in Nene Park, near Peterborough.
What I do need as soon as possible is a list of people who are relatively sure they will be able to attend so that I can calculate numbers of spaces needed. I would appreciate it if you could add your name/car to the list in the time-honoured fashion.
Many thanks.

Normally a couple of quid in.
Fiver for camping

2-3 quid for a solid brass plaque.

Hog-roast on the saturday evening (get in the que early!!!!)

we will be there, though which motor/s is currently unknown.

Can have a start point from the M4, one from M42/M6 for that end, and say Worksop area M1-A1 meeting points for those further north east.

Can't get on site before 4pm on the saturday, and that is strictly adheared to, so best to get there either around 3ish sso that you are at the front of the que, or meet up at a local point of interest, and arrive at the site around 5pm for a swiftish entry.

Sunday people really should get there as early as possible, otherwise you wont have time to do the jumble and the show.

Mal.

I've been wanting to do this for years but the timing has allways been awkward. Must get my finger out and support the marque.

I can't decide, the late entry on the Saturday for camping is putting me off.

You looking to go Saturday or Sunday?

Plenty of family groups go to this event.

There is a lake just the other side of the site, which is accessed from the same entry road.
There is a restaraunt and loo's by the lake, so you could arive early, go for a meal, then come into the event once the que is gone.

I would like to go to this as we plan to be in the UK for some time in the summer. I'll have to make a late decision, though.

I should be able to make it on the Sunday John, so you can count me and my 820 in if you wish.

As stated in last years thread on this subject.
We as a family attend this event every year, and camp the saturday night.

There are "food vendors" on site for the sunday, but as we all know they tend to be a little high priced.

We take our trailer tent, whith a removable free standing cooker set up, as well as a couple of gas powered griddles.

Im sure those others who will be camping would'nt mind setting there cooking gear up on the stand (if we have one) for having our own BBQ during the day.

Donations of the usual (bacon, burgers, sausages, baps and sauce) by those wishing to partake would be helpfull.

No warring Italian Ice Cream sellers though? They provided a bit of entertainment at the last MG-Rover event at Longbridge.

HI John

Hope to make it again this year. Last year was super (and my first Rally in the Sterling). Shame I missed you and Mal.

Will be coming in either the Sterling or 820SE depending on weather.
Might even try and get the Police 827. Will make some enquieries once I'm back at work. Its a bit far outside the MPD but if you don't ask.

Show me down as a definite.

Chris if you come your banners/flags would be super. Lets show the other clubs the 800 is not forgotten. (last year there was even a stand with Metros on  but no 800)

Will pull my finger out and try and get us some polo shirts.

Kate :D

Thanks guys. I have amended my original post with the definites-only 4 so far. I need to know by the end of January at the latest to confirm car numbers. I don't mind adding a few "extras" to our list for the "maybes" but I could do with a few more "definites" if possible......
Kind Regards
