Meet chat

Sherwood was a lovely place all in all. To be fair though Rich, there was something to do at the same time though. Perfectly usable again though due to the small number that went before?

As was the Coventry transport museum I think? Varied enough for most of us.

Thinking outloud then, while not biting off more than we can chew.

How about aiming for 3 meets next year? Times to be agreed.

Say one at Easter time (March/April). One in June/July, then one in September/October?

Earlier and later in the year should definitely have somewhere inside to go.

Hopefully in the summer we should be safe outside? :D

How about the Coventry transport museum for the early or late meet? Then Sherwood pines or similar for the summer one, then another to go for whichever we don't go to Coventry?

What do we think?

Central UK is great for many of us but a bit hard on those living further away. The RSR are having their national event in the west country in July - perhaps that would be a decent basis for a meet up:

Forgot the talk of that.

Ideal for the those down south.

I'm up for that Rich. I reckon based on what I've heard of the RSR meet this year that'd be just right.

Ideal for those that want to camp as well as those that want to just visit for the day.

The idea of having some more events is a great idea. I think it is quite correct to say we should consider other members who are not based in central uk.

The RSR in Somerset sounds really tempting - do we have an affiliation with this club? Is this how all the 800's were at the meet in Lichfield through this club - or are all the people who were there members? In saying that i looked at the RSR website and it looks a good club to join.

Getting back to the meetings perhaps we could alternate them, one at a museum, a bbq, then one where we all go to a classic car show - we just looked at the Stag Owners site and there is a meet on 30th November 2008 – 14th Staffordshire Classic Car & Bike Show, Uttoxeter Racecourse, Wood Lane, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, ST14 8BD. Perhaps this a little soon however it could be an idea for next year, or something similar.

Will people be going to Lichfield again? And we went to a good show in Walsall. Anyway some food for thought.

3 times per year sounds a bout right, with special events on top.

I plan to do a few of the RSR evnts too.

Lichfield was the RSR's annual meet venue this year. They don't go there regular though I guess the cars in the park event still takes place. So that's a potential as well I guess.

Both Rich's are now members of RSR. Possibly a few others. The idea of tagging along before was easier more than anything.

Definitely an idea to take part with them I reckon.

End of the month is too soon for me. Lots on.

Though and thoughts on anything else are welcome. What happened at Walsall?

I was just trying to get the ball rolling without going too far.

Simon,

The RSR are reasonably happy to have people piggy back on their events but Rich C and I joined the club because the membership fees go a long way towards funding their events. Those of us whop went through the RSR to get tickets paid a quid or two extra for entry to Cars in th Park at Lichfield but that again went to club funds and is money well spent.

They're every keen to get younger members and owners of more modern cars into the club and, if we're honest, they need it!

The event at Walsall was the Walsall classic car show, held in Walsall arboretum and atlhough not the biggest event there was a really good mix of cars and bikes.

Richard when will you be at the classic car show at the NEC? Michelle and i are going on Friday and one of our ports of call will be the RSR stand, i think it might be something we would like to join.
