I don't know if the WJ has leaf springs at the rear like the XJ/ZJ but they are known to go weak and saggy, effecting the handling badly.

The favoured fix was to retrofit leaf springs from a turbo diesel model, stronger with an extra (?) leaf i think. I bought a pair ofr mine but never got round to fitting them.
Cheers,
Dave

Coil springs all round on a WJ.

I've ordered a heavy duty rear ARB from the US, I'm hoping that makes a difference. Then I'll decide whether anything else needs changing.

Hoping so, I'll be looking for something else if not.

You may have to upgrade the front one as well, see how the back one goes first. :D

Not as bad as it could have been - but still more than I paid for my daughter's immaculate, low mileage 2002 Rover 25 (175 quid) :)

The engine bay looks like new and the underneath is almost as good

No demand for them then?

Strangely not much - Practial Classics ran a feature a couple of months back and the 25/45 was in it and they pointed out it was at the bottom of its value at the moment but with prices starting to rise.
Likewise the MG-f/TF in this months issue.

Dave

The ARB arrived yesterday and I've fitted it today.

Easy job aside rusty bolts. Definitely better, now wondering whether to upgrade the front. Waiting on a response from the experts.

Spot the difference, the old could be moved by hand which shows how weak it is.

Should improve the cornering by quite a bit!

Don't forget the weight up front will still create body roll, might pay to bite the bullet and fit the front uprated version too.
Cheers,
Dave
