My 1988 Sterling back on the road!

Yippee.
Picked my Sterling up from the Transmission shop this morning and drove it home.
Nice to have it mobile again. The replacement gearbox is working fine, though the changes are different to the other car, as in 3 to 4 changes much sooner than the original did.
Taking the car in for a Warrant check on Monday.
Hopefully it will pass ok, as next weekend it will be taken on a good 600 kilometre trip on a club run.
This car has been off the road for a good year, if my memory serves me right.
I had forgotten how light the steering is in that car. Certainly feels different to my Vitesse.
Main thing is my Sterling is alive again.

Good to hear another one is back, I bet it's nice with the new gearbox in it despite the early changes.

I was very naughty and took the still illegal Sterling for a drive 'around the block', which entailed a good 15 km run. Mostly 100 km/ph areas. Had a few intersections as well so was able to manually work the gears a bit too. Has improved tenfold already. Changes up very smooth and now normally spaced. Down changes still a bit sticky but, even those are improving. Think it will be a good one with a few more changes and use. I notice from the account that they also have fitted a transmission cooler.

Oh dear, car failed its W.o.F.
Moisture in LH high beam light unit, and also both front indicators.
Both front tyres in need of replacement.
Master brake cylinder has a slight weep by brake booster.

Swapping over head lights from parts 825i car......they are dry as a bone.
Front indicator units are spending a few days in the hot water cupboard. I shall attempt to seperate the lenses off a spare set I have and re seal the outer lens with new sealer.
Tyres ....have a good set of 16" prestige wheels and tyres I can use till I get the ones from the parts 825i refurbished.
Brake master cylinder......swap over one from parts 825i and get brakes bled........or get mine re kitted. Have not decided on that yet.
