Getting the original registration number back

Does anyone know how this is done, a few people have mentioned it on the TR7 site but i have not been able to discover the process to see if it is available and what you do?

After having a private plate on are we talking?

All depends if it's been sold since it was removed.

The Black Rover 825 that I went to see a few weeks ago was having its original plate removed and transferred to the new car of the owner, the plate in question was issued with the car from new, he explained that you can at least transfer a number plate from any vehicle to another as long as the vehicles in question have current tax and MOT. When you tranfer the plates from car 1 to car 2 for example car 1 will have another year-related number plate issued to it whilest you transfer car 1's plate to car 2, thats what was explained to me at least.
