Just a thought...
The CD Changer featured in Rover 800's (part no. XQE10010), would this connect to the standard Ford unit in my Escort? AFAIK, they're not specific to Rovers in general, are they?
Would the CD Changer work with another car?

In a word, no, it won't.
The connections will be different for starters, and not only that, the ford unit won't be able to read the electronic signal the the CD changer sends to it. You would have to buy an interface unit, which is a small black box which plugs inbetween the changer & head unit, but these are pricey, at around £50+
What model is the Ford unit? Is it a 2007? Or the later double din type?
