1990 Mark 1 827 Saloon Slave Clutch Cylinder

Post by Dajazar » Wed Sep 02, 2015 7:54 pm

Hi,

These appear to be like hens teeth in the UK :x Unfortunately, mine has given up the ghost. Does anyone have one or know of a supplier? There are a few Masters about but no Slaves.

Does this being a rare manual matter at all or were they fitted with one from an 820/825 or the like?

When I had to replace the one on my Mk1 827, I picked up what I believed was the 'correct' one. However, when it came to actually fitting it, the connection for the hydraulic fluid pipe was at a slightly different angle. However, any garage worth their salt would be able to either bend the old pipe to fit, or create a very small connector piece bent to the right shape for not a lot of ££.

Mk1 and Mk2 would both have the PG2 box, so maybe a later version would fit? There was a man who would know, but he's not on here anymore.

I'll answer your PM here if I may so other members can see it.
Pre chassis number 214102 part number CDU2122 SLAVE or Repair kit CDU2331 mk1 825/827
Chassis number 214103 to chassis number 297000 GSY134 SLAVE or Repair kit GRK4012 late mk1 827
Mk2 827 to 1995 UUB10002EVA SLAVE or Repair kit UUL10002EVA
These all cross reference and are genuine parts. There are then a few aftermarket part numbers which were all genuine suppliers to be honest
TRW PJD250
DELPHI LL15126
GIRLING 1104250
HONDA 46930-SG9-E01
A slave will set you back £80-£120, if you get a repair kit it'll be about £20 but the bore of the cylinder must be in A1 condition or it wont seal properly.

Let us know how you get on, sure a few others will need this in the future.

Thank you Dave
Much appreciated. I can not find a supply in the UK. The Slave I require is part number GSY134 SLAVE.

I have send an email to a company in the USA called Dorman Products who has it in stock asking how I can purchase it from them.
Will let you know outcome in case anyone else needs a replacement in the future.

Its not in stock at Rimmers and they don't know when or if they will get it back in stock.

There are some Dorman products available on amazon - USA. I recently bought one of their filler necks that way. I'd guess that searching the part number on amazon.com and then shopping around for a seller with reasonable international postage would sort you out.

Dave, I just wondered if you'd be able to confirm an 'underlying' question whilst we're on the subject - although you've posted the correct part numbers for the exact part, is it possible to tell how they differ from, for example, the slave cylinder I've fitted to my '98 Vitesse?

I ask because if the only difference is the angle at which the hydraulic line enters the cylinder, but the two mounting bolts are otherwise the same, Tracy may well be able to make use of the more readily available slaves for the later cars.

I honestly couldn't tell you if there was a difference between the ones I fitted to my Mk1 827 and the Mk2 Vitesse.

I ordered the Vitesse slave from my local motor factors who got it within 6 hours for £40-odd plus VAT. If it's that plus some additional hydraulic line, it could be well worth considering rather than waiting for an imported part and/or an outrageously expensive part.

eBay item number:321706924899

There is the correct part you are looking for in Italy which may be quicker than the states but is not cheap. EBay item number for you.

Thanks lads

I will go to my mechanic in morning and have a look at it to make sure I am ordering the right one.
On Amazon UK the Delphi part looks different to the Dorman part.

The one's on Amazon is ABS 51990 Slave Cylinder Clutch @ £78.68 & FREE Delivery in the UK
The one on eBay Cilindro Frizione - Clutch Slave Cylinder DELPHI LL15126 Rover 800 Honda Legend @ EURO 95.00
Approximately £69.23 plus shipping.

Will let you all know how I get on.

Thank you all again

Tracy - Dorman products can often be found on http://www.rockauto.com - you may find it there.

Edit:
I've just looked and if you select the make as "Sterling" and model as "827" then select "transmission - manual" there are loads of slave cylinders listed. There is a Dorman CS37890 for $27 plus shipping. Rockauto will post stuff to the UK for $13

That's about £30 all in and possibly worth buying 2 at the same time for future-proofing

Right,

Checked with my mechanic and the Dorman part is the correct one. This bears no resemblance to the others at all which is a bit of a mystery so I wonder if Dave could shed some light on why this should be the case, although clearly some 827's do take the other parts:

From Dorman's own website:
http://www.dormanproducts.com/gsearch.a ... origin=YMM

It is cheap enough though as Richard says. I think if anyone needs one in future they will have to see which one fits their car.

Didn't notice the date of the first post so did a bit of digging and found :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Saab-99-9 ... OSwCGVX88h~

Check the cross-reference numbers in the listing, it comes up the same as the Rover numbers, including but not limited to UUL10002EVA.
Like Dave said, the slave cylinder itself needs to be good for a rebuild kit to work.

The slave cylinder is unique to the manual Honda V6 engined 800s and of course the early Legends. As our friend above ^^^^^ says, Rock Auto are pretty good and £45 all in is a lot less than the one i did find in the UK for £108 and likely to be made more recently as well! :D
Cheers,
Dave
